2011-09-30 Friday News September 30, 2011 September 30, 2011 Dodge Nature Center Sandra Krebsbach and Jake Sedlacek attended a meeting at Dodge Nature Center (DNC) on Wednesday morning. Jason Sanders, has been serving as executive director at DNC for one year, and wanted to meet the mayor and discuss his vision for the nature center’s three locations. Mr. Sanders wanted to make sure that our citizens understand that while this is not public property, their mission is to introduce nature to the public. Citizens are encouraged to visit the sites, explore the trails and take advantage of their great youth and family programs. City Administrator Search Process Update Semi-finalists have been selected for first round interviews for the City Administrator position. Interviews will be held next week by an interview panel consisting of Mayor Krebsbach, Councilmember Vitelli, Police Chief Mike Aschenbrener, Fire Chief John Mazcko and City Clerk Sandie Thone with attendance by Human Resources Coordinator Tamara Schutta. Finalists will be determined after the completion of the first round interviews. The full city council will interview the finalists for the position on October 13, 2011. This weekend Interstate Highway 35E will be closed between 494 and Lone Oak Road in Eagan. Firefighters Dance The 63rd Annual Firefighters dance will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011. Members of the Mendota Heights Volunteer Fire Department are working their way through the community, selling tickets. The dance is a fundraiser for the Fire Relief Association—please consider buying tickets, even if you cannot attend the dance! Bonfire Reminder The Halloween Bonfire is set for 7:00 p.m. on Halloween at Mendota Plaza. This great community event will include free hotdogs and a pop from Mendota Heights Fire Department. Paster Enterprises and Mendota Plaza merchants will be handing out free goodie bags. Residents will be allowed to deposit brush in the designated area between the Mendota Plaza Shopping Mall and South Plaza Drive, October 24, 2011 through 28, 2011, or when the site is filled. Brush must be less than 4” in diameter, no grass clippings or leaves allowed.
