Dakota County Capital Improvements
Dakota County has published their Draft 2012 -
2016 Capital Improvements Plan. Included in
the Plan is a trail project to connect the North
Urban Regional Trail from Mendota Heights to
West Saint Paul. Although a final route has yet
to be determined, the connection will likely take
place along Marie Avenue from Delaware
Avenue to Charlton Avenue in West Saint Paul.
Construction of this trail connection is
scheduled for 2013.
The Street Maintenance line item of the CIP,
also includes Lexington Avenue from Mendota
Heights Road to Highway 110 as a project
scheduled for a pavement overlay in 2012.
Fire Department Open House
The fire department wrapped up fire
prevention week with a fun and
informative open house this past
Saturday. The weather cooperated
for a great crowd.
The open house included fire truck
rides, free hot dogs and pop, a live
demonstration on fire sprinklers and
a nice memorial service for
firefighters lost in New York City on
9/11, and for retired Mendota
Heights Firefighters who have
passed away.

Wagon Wheel Trail
If you have not seen it lately, Wagon
Wheel Trail is undergoing quite a
transformation. Curbs are in, the first
layer of asphalt is down, and grading
behind the curb is being completed.
While this project met a couple of hang-
ups, it has been moving swiftly. The
new layout is quite a change for the
better, including a designated trail, and
paved parking areas at Roger’s Lake
Park.

Firefighters Dance
The 63rd Annual Firefighters dance will be
held Saturday, November 12, 2011. The
dance starts at 8:00 p.m. at Royal Cliff of
Eagan. The dance is a fundraiser for the Fire
Relief Association– tickets are available prior
to the event at City Hall for $12 or can be
bought at the door for $15.
Bonfire Just Around the Corner
Brush drop-off for the Halloween
Bonfire starts Monday next week
October 24, 2011, going through
Friday October 28, 2011. Brush
must be less than 4” in diameter
and no grass clippings or leaves
are allowed.
The bonfire will be held at 7:00
p.m. on October 31, 2011. There
will be free hotdogs and soda
compliments of Mendota Heights
Fire Department. Paster
Enterprises and Mendota Plaza
merchants will also be handing
out free goodie bags.
