With three new commissioners this year and the high volume of information that is shared with the city by the Metropolitan Airports Commission each month, commissioners have taken on items of interest in tracking pieces of specific information that are included in the information we receive. Commissioners are taking on the tracking of items such as complaints submitted to the MAC by city, tracking of specific high noise events and statistical analysis of how the airplane departures are spread out over the different runways. It was an interesting discussion at the last ARC meeting to hear the commissioners discuss these specific issues and how they can tweak the reports to show specific impacts on Mendota Heights. Kudos to the commissioners for their initiative. Tuesday Storm The thunderstorm that rolled into Mendota Heights on Tuesday morning turned day into night and brought hail and heavy rain to the city for a brief time. This was an excellent example of the importance of being aware of the weather conditions around you when you are outdoors. The wind from the storm was strong enough to take down one of the flags that was flying out front of city hall. The storm we experienced on Tuesday and the heat that we lived through this week are both good reminders for those employees who work outdoors of the importance of personal safety. Please make sure this is your priority when you are out and about in the community. Your safety is very important to everyone at the city.
