Busy Weekend Underway
The holiday weekend will see plenty of activity
in Mendota Heights. Besides the annual
fireworks show on Monday night, the Par 3
Golf Course will be celebrating its 50th
anniversary on Saturday. Although the course
has only been city owned for a few years, it
has been a part of our community for many
years. Please stop by the course on Saturday
for free hot dogs and drawings for the golfers.
In addition, if you are out and about this
weekend please be aware of the Highway 13
closure between Mendota and Lilydale. The
road is closed due to a washout on the road.
MnDOT expects the road to be open by July
20, 2011.

This weekend is a long holiday weekend where
we celebrate our nation’s independence.
Please enjoy the weekend, have fun and be
safe. Mendakota Country Club will have their
annual fireworks show on Monday night for the
entire community to enjoy.
The show will be visible from many locations in
the city including: Mendakota Park, Rogers
Lake Park, Mendota Plaza, The Village of
Mendota Heights, City Hall and Sibley High
School to name a few. Remember Mendakota
Country Club is private property and should not
be used as a viewing location
City Council Meeting
The July 5, 2011 City Council meeting will be
a busy one for everyone involved. The council
will hold two public hearings and consider 12
unfinished and new business items. The large
number of items is due primarily to a high
number of planning applications that were
considered and forwarded to the council by
the Planning Commission in June. The
council will also be discussing revisions to two
city ordinances along with a number of other
items. If you have interest in any of these
items the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at City
Hall or it can be watched live on Town Square
Television or online. City council meeting
agendas and minutes can be viewed on the
city website along with agendas to all of our
commission meetings. If you have questions

Human Resources Update
Our recent additions of a new Fire Marshal and
Facilities Manager are working out well and
staff continues the process to fill the two current
vacant positions. City staff conducted
interviews for the Human Resources
Coordinator position this week. In addition,
staff is currently reviewing the 35 applications
that we received for the Account Technician
position. We hope to make a final decision on
the Human Resources Coordinator position in
the next two weeks and schedule interviews for
the Account Technician in the same timeframe.
Once those two positions are filled we will be
back to a full staffing level. Thank you to all of
the staff members who have performed extra
duties to help cover these vacancies. Your
extra efforts are greatly appreciated!
State Government Shutdown
As you are aware, the State of Minnesota is
currently shutdown due to the lack of a
budget for the biennium. Mendota Heights
city government does not shut down due to
this issue. We will experience ramifications
just like every other city but our work will
continue. The largest impact on the city,
depending on how the long shutdown lasts,
is that we may need cover some state aid
payments that are scheduled to arrive
during the summer months. These are
payments for specific projects or programs.
There are also state programs that shut
down that could impact residents that the
city has no role in. Information on which
programs are shut down and the impact
they are having on residents will be shared
in the media. Stay tuned.
