2011-06-17 Friday News June 17, 2011 June 17, 2011 Dakota County CIP The Dakota County Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is wrapping up the planning stages. This is the last week to request projects through City Staff for nomination to the Dakota County CIP. The CIP guides the prioritization and budgeting guidelines for projects in three categories: transportation, parks, and buildings. Projects can be requested through city staff by June 24, 2011. A final draft will be published in September. The 2011-2015 CIP can be found at the Dakota County web site: http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/CountyGovernme nt/BudgetFinance/2011Budget.htm. Trucks and Travel Expo Public Works staff participated in the 2011 Trucks and Travel Expo on Wednesday night. This event is jointly sponsored by Independent School District 197 and Mendota Heights Parks and Recreation. The event was held at Henry Sibley High School, and was fortunate to have clear skies after a late afternoon shower. Staff provided a road grader for display and was available during the expo to answer questions about roads and heavy equipment. Each year, this event brings in equipment from area police, fire and public works departments, giving kids and families an up-close look at the equipment we use everyday. State Government Shutdown With the possibility of a state government shutdown looming a question frequently asked is whether it will impact Mendota Heights government. Since we receive almost no state aid the impact of a potential shutdown will be minimal. There may be impacts in the area due to MnDOT construction projects being halted, but the operations of Mendota Heights city government will continue as expected. Staff will continue to monitor this situation as July 1, 2011 gets closer.
