2011-03-11 Friday News March 11, 2011 March 11, 2011 Lower Minnesota River Watershed District The Dakota County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill one vacancy on the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District Board of Managers. This five-member board directs implementation of the watershed management plan, including an annual budget and work plan. This appointee must be a resident of the watershed district (reside in that portion of Burnsville, Eagan, Mendota Heights, Mendota or Lilydale within the jurisdictional boundary of the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District), be registered as eligible to vote and not be a public officer of the county, state, or federal government. The managers meet monthly in Chaska. This appointment is for a three year term. Application deadline is March 31, 2011 by 4:30 p.m. Citizens interested in serving on this Board should submit their name to the Dakota County Water Resources Department by calling 952-891-7000, or sending an email to water@co.dakota.mn.us. Watch the State of the City Address You can now watch Mayor Sandra Krebsbach’s 2011 State of the City address online. Sandra made this presentation as a part of the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce meeting in March. The speech can be viewed by going to townsquaretv.com and clicking on the State of the City section. On this site you can see similar presentations from mayor’s throughout northern Dakota County. Since it had been ten years since the city went out to bid on this service, city staff thought it would be a good idea to look at this issue. After interviewing all of the firms and discussing their merits, the city council decided to continue to have Northwestern Associated Consultants serve as the city’s contracted planner. The council was very happy with the consultants who submitted proposals and looks forward to a continued positive relationship with the city planner. Good Luck Cadets Congrats to the Saint Thomas Academy boys hockey team for making it to the state tournament this week and earning the number one seed. The Cadets defeated New Ulm in their first game of the state tournament on Wednesday by a score of 13-2. St. Thomas Academy will next take on Thief River Falls at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The winner of that game will move on to the class A championship game scheduled at noon on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The state tournament is taking place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. All of the games can be viewed on television as well. Good luck to the Cadets in your run for the state championship and congratulations on a very successful season. You are representing the school and the community with a great deal of pride and class. You are already champions to your fans in Mendota Heights!
