02 03 23 WEEKLY CRIME REPORT 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report January 27th—February 2nd, 2023 01/28/23, 0307 HOURS, DODD RD/DECORAH LN IMPOUND Officer initiated a traffic stop for a speed violation on the 2200 block of Dodd Road. The driver switched seats before the officer was able to make contact and the two occupants refused to admit to who was driving. Neither of the two occupants were legally allowed to drive and the registered owner was not present. Occupants were released and the vehicle was impounded. No criminal charges are being pursued. 01/29/23, 0233 HOURS, 16XX WACHTLER AVE FLEEING Officer attempted a traffic stop for a speed violation on the 1400 block of Wachtler Avenue. The driver refused to pull over and accelerated away from the officer at excessive and reckless speeds. Officer located the vehicle crashed into a tree on the 1600 block of Wachtler Avenue. The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital by EMS. Officer observed signs of impairment from the driver and submitted to a legal blood draw search warrant. Formal charges are pending toxicology results. Vehicle was impounded for forfeiture. 01/29/23, 1933 HOURS, 24XX LEXINGTON AVE ANIMAL ABUSE Officer was notified of potential animal abuse that occurred on the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue. After speaking with all parties involved, the officer determined that abuse took place. A citation was mailed to the male and the dog is in the safe care of a different individual. 01/30/23, 0440 HOURS, 35E/MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD WARRANT Officer was traveling south on I-35E and Mendota Heights Road. Officer observed a vehicle to be speeding and the registered owner had a warrant. Officer stopped the vehicle and confirmed the driver as the owner. The driver was arrested and transported to jail. 01/30/23, 0813 HOURS, 13XX WACHTLER AVE HIT & RUN Resident on the 1300 block of Wachtler Ave discovered that a vehicle had struck their mailbox. There were several vehicle parts left at the scene, none that would identify a make or model. The time frame is not really known, but the damage was first discovered on 01/29/2023, early am. There are no known suspects. 01/31/23, 0831 HOURS, 6XX MULBERRY LN IDENTITY THEFT Officer was requested to call a man living near the 600 block of Mulberry Ln in reference to his name being used to open a bank account. He hadn't experienced any financial loss and there is no suspect information. The case is inactive. 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report January 27th—February 2nd, 2023 01/31/23, 1206 HOURS, 25XX HERITAGE DR MAARC Officer was provided a Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center Report for a vulnerable adult living near the 2500 block of Heritage Drive. The woman was checked on and it was found that she is staying in unsafe living conditions, and likely being financially exploited. Information was collected and Social Services was contacted. All involved agencies are working to care for the woman and identify any criminal activity. The case is under investigation. 02/01/23, 0853 HOURS, 2XXX DODD RD POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY Officers were dispatched to an occupied stolen vehicle at the 2000 block of Dodd Road. Officers made contact with three people in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Dakota County Jail for Felony Possession of the Stolen Property. The two passengers were sent to area hospitals for medical illnesses. The stolen vehicle was towed to the Minneapolis impound lot.
