12 16 22 WEEKLY CRIME REPORT 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report December 9th—December 15th, 2022 12/09/22, 1049 HOURS, 1XXX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY BURGLARY Officer was dispatched to a burglary report on the 1000 block of Sibley Memorial Hwy. The reporting party stated that the suspects entered the apartment building and broke into the maintenance storage room. Staff advised that the suspects stole copper piping and tile. Officer gathered information from staff and reviewed security footage. Staff advised that they would provide PD with security footage. Officer put out a KOPS Alert on the suspect vehicle. Under investigation. 12/09/22, 1925 HOURS, 11XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY THEFT A vehicle was broken into on the 1111 block of Sibley Memorial Highway. A backpack containing a computer was stolen. There are no suspects at this time. 12/10/22, 0313 HOURS, HWY 62/HWY 35 WARRANT Officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 62 and I35 when officer observed a vehicle pass by with no license plates displayed. Officer stopped the vehicle and identified the adult male driver. The driver was arrested on outstanding warrants and transported to jail. 12/11/22, 0105 HOURS, HWY 35/WAGON WHEEL TR DWI Officer was conducting speed enforcement at the intersection of Interstate 35E southbound at Wagon Wheel Trail. Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver showed multiple signs of impairment and failed roadside sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for DUI, provided a test, and booked into the Dakota County Jail for 3rd Degree Gross Misdemeanor DUI. 12/11/22, 0409 HOURS, HWY 13/FREMONT ST WARRANT Officer was traveling north on Highway 13/Fremont Street. Officer observed a vehicle traveling the same direction that committed a traffic violation. Officer stopped the vehicle and identified the adult male driver. It was learned the driver had a warrant. The driver was arrested and transported to jail. 12/11/22, 2210 HOURS, DODD RD/MAPLE ST TRAFFIC STOP Officer was on routine patrol traveling north on Dodd Road and Maple Street. Officer observed a vehicle traveling the same direction, which the registered owner was listed to have a felony warrant. The vehicle was stopped and officer learned the owner was not in the vehicle. The occupants were informed they were free to leave. 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report December 9th—December 15th, 2022 12/12/22, 1052 HOURS, 725 LINDEN ST FRAUD Officer received a MAARC report about an alleged financial elder scam. Money was transferred into a bank account in California. Investigation active. 12/14/22, 1536 HOURS, 13XX NORTHLAND DR THEFT Resident on the 1300 block of Northland Drive reported their front license plate was stolen. The time of the theft is unknown. There are no suspects at this time. Plate was reported as stolen. 12/15/22, 0348 HOURS, 35E/MARIE AVE PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT Officer was advised about a driver leaving their vehicle after driving off the road on Marie Avenue near I -35E. Driver advised they were leaving the area, and in the process of calling AAA tow. I drove by the area and located the vehicle approximately 30 feet down into the creek area. The vehicle struck a sign post (still upright) and took out some landscaping erosion material. The vehicle then came to a rest with the front end of the vehicle resting in the creek. Driver was issued a citation for Duty to Drive With Due Care. 12/15/22, 1605 HOURS, LAURA ST/SYLVANDALE RD DWI School officials called to report a parent drove drunk to the school. Officers spoke with the school and attempted to make contact with the subject at their house. They were not home. In leaving the area, officer observed the individual driving and stopped the vehicle. The driver smelled strongly of alcoholic beverage, failed SFST ’s and blew well above the legal limit. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to Dakota County Jail on 2nd Degree DWI charges.
