Approximately 300 native flowers, grasses, and shrubs were planted within City right-of-way along Callahan Boulevard with the help of local resident Rosemary Husbands and City Volunteer Renae Goldman. The project began when the area was cleared of trees and brush under overhead utility lines, which consisted mainly of common buckthorn and other invasive species. Rosemary saw the opportunity to restore the area with a native planting instead of allowing the invasive species to grow back. She contacted the City, and the project became a partnership to restore the area; creating a space for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, as well as adding some aesthetic enhancement for residents to enjoy.
