08 05 22 WEEKLY CRIME REPORT 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report July 29th - August 4th, 2022 07/29/2022, 0127 HOURS, HWY 62/DODD RD FLEEING Officer attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado due to suspicious driving behavior, including excessive speed violations. The driver refused to pull over, accelerated speed, and blatantly ran through the red lights at intersections. The officer recognizing the crimes believed to have been committed did not outweigh the inherent dangers of continuing the pursuit, terminated enforcement action. A short time later, a passing motorist waved down the officer and informed him the pickup truck had crashed into the ditch at Highway 13 and Lone Oak Road in the city of Eagan. The driver had fled before the officer arrived and a perimeter was established. State Patrol Air Unit and Dakota County K -9 assisted with the search, but ultimately the driver was not located. The pickup truck was impounded. 07/30/2022, 2108 HOURS, 16XX LILYDALE RD THEFT Officer was dispatched a past action report of theft on the 1600 block of Lilydale Road. Officer spoke with reporting party and found a vehicle was damaged and several items were taken. Reporting party confirmed that multiple credit cards were used at a Target in another city. Officer contacted Target for possible security footage. Investigation is ongoing. 07/31/2022, 0017 HOURS, 35E/WAGON WHEEL TR DWI Officer was travelling southbound on HWY 35E/Hwy 62 and observed a vehicle swerving in traffic. Officer stopped vehicle and determined the driver to be intoxicated. Driver was arrested and transported to Dakota County Jail. 07/31/2022, 2124 HOURS, 13XX NORTHLAND DR INDECENT EXPOSURE Officers were dispatched to a report of a man exposing himself on the 1300 block of Northland Drive. Officer gathered information and arrested the party involved. Officers brought the man to Dakota County Jail. 08/01/2022, 0942 HOURS, 7XX KEOKUK LN FALSELY REPORTING CRIME Officer responded to the 700 block of Keokuk Ln on a report of a burglary. Subsequent investigation revealed that this crime was falsely reported. A citation was issued for Falsely Reporting a Crime. 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report July 29th - August 4th, 2022 08/01/2022, 2005 HOURS, WACHTLER AVE/RIVERSIDE LN WARRANT Officer was traveling southbound on Sibley Memorial Hwy near Riverside Ln when he observed a vehicle with no license plate and the taillight was not functioning properly. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver had a revoked license and a warrant out of Carver County. The driver was transported to Dakota County Jail 08/01/2022, 2049 HOURS, 9XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY HIT & RUN ACCIDENT Officer received a report of a hit and run on the 900 block of Sibley Memorial Highway. Officer spoke with witnesses who stated an elderly female backed out of a parking stall and into another vehicle leaving damage. They believed she was either under the influence or having a medical issue. Officers later located the adult female suspect who showed signs of impairment. After SFSTs were conducted, the female was placed under arrest for DWI and hit and run charges. 08/01/2022, 2335 HOURS, 9XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY WELFARE CHECK Officer observed a male laying in a ditch on the 800 block of Sibley Memorial Highway. Officer determined the male had left his home earlier in the day. Male was transported home and turned over to staff at the residence. 08/02/2022, 0015 HOURS, DODD RD/MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD TRANSPORT HOLD Officer was dispatched to a disturbance regarding an Uber driver who was assaulted by the passenger. The passenger was located and was visibly intoxicated. The passenger was unable to care for himself and was transported to the hospital. The Uber driver did not wish to pursue charges. 08/02/2022, 0018 HOURS, SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY/LILYDALE RD WARRANT Officer stopped out with a female who was laying on the ground on Sibley Memorial Highway near Lilydale Road. The female was identified and was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants. The female was transported to Dakota County Jail. 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, MN 55118 * Non-Emergency 651.452.1366 Mendota Heights Police Department Weekly Crime Report July 29th - August 4th, 2022 08/02/2022, 0928 HOURS, 14XX FARMDALE RD ORDINANCE VIOLATION Officer was dispatched to a rec fire complaint on the 1400 block of Farmdale Rd. The reporting party advised that a neighbor was burning random items and it is creating a lot of smoke. Officer located the fire and spoke with the resident. Officer cited resident for ordinance violation. 08/03/2022, 0802 HOURS, DODD RD/HWY 62 AOA Officer assisted MSP stopping a vehicle suspected in a car jacking. The suspect entered Mendota Heights at Dodd Rd. Suspect drove north to Hwy 62. Officers and troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, suspect rammed squads, and civilian vehicle. Suspect fled on foot, was tased and taken into custody by MSP. 08/04/2022, 0334 HOURS, 13XX NORTHLAND DR FOUND PROPERTY Officer was dispatched to location on found property. Staff located a box containing multiple keys to vehicles with dealer tags. The box was taken to the PD to securely store. Under investigation. 08/04/2022, 1625 HOURS, 14XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY THEFT Employee from the 1400 block of Sibley Memorial Hwy reported their motorcycle plate was stolen during their shift. Plate was reported as stolen. There are no suspects at this time. 08/04/2022, 1629 HOURS, 9XX HWY 13 MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT Officers responded to a vehicle theft that had occurred on the 900 block of Highway 13. The victim was in a store while the suspects stole the vehicle and left the area. The vehicle was entered as stolen. A few hours later, the vehicle was recovered in St. Paul. 08/04/2022, 1838 HOURS, 9XX HWY 13 MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT Officers responded to the 900 block of Highway 13 on the report of a vehicle theft. The victim was in a store while the suspects stole the vehicle and left the area. Victim made contact with scammers who were able to relay specific details. There was no loss. No suspects.
