Highway 62 weekend road closure
Westbound Hwy 62 between Hwy 13 and Hwy 5 (Mendota Bridge) in Mendota Heights is
closing at 10 p.m. Friday, June 4 through 6 a.m. Monday, June 7. Please plan your travels
accordingly.
COVID-19 information
Get your shot and claim a prize
The first 100,000 Minnesotans, ages 12 and older, who get their first COVID-19 vaccine
through June 30 will be eligible for a special reward.
Find a vaccination location
Walk-ins for Minnesotans age 12 to 17 are possible at any state community vaccination
sites that are administering the Pfizer vaccine.

Find a free community testing event
The Minnesota Department of Health continues to host both saliva and nasal swab testing
events throughout Minnesota. Tests are free and insurance is not required.
Recent highlights
You may see Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) trucks, helicopters, and
staff in neighborhoods and parks this summer.
The annual Parks Celebration community event scheduled to take place on June 5
has been moved to the weekend of August 13 through August 15. Planning is
currently underway with details to-be-announced.

How to reuse or recycle propane tanks
Propane tanks fuel our summer activities from grilling to camping. When your large or small
fuel tanks are empty, do not put them in your home recycling or trash. While they are made
of steel — a very recyclable metal — gas cylinders and tanks contain compressed gas even
when you think they’re empty. If they are thrown in the trash or recycling, they can explode
and cause injury to workers.
Reuse options:
Grill tanks – exchange at a gas station or other propane supplier.
Small, camp tanks – try refillable propane kits sold at most hardware retailers.
Recycling option: Bring your pressurized tanks to The Recycling Zone in Eagan for free
recycling.
Upcoming recycling events
Boat Wrap Recycling
Through June 15
Drop off boat wrap at Lighthouse Motorsports and Marine in
Rosemount during regular business hours. Call 651-322-
4420 before dropping off. The type of plastic used to wrap
boats requires special handling and cannot be placed with
regular home recycling. Remove all straps, cords, rocks and
gravel. Transhield covers and fabric liners, including plastic
wrap with fabric, are not accepted.

Japanese Hedge Parsley (Torilis japonica)
Japanese Hedge Parsley is a relatively new and aggressive invasive that is most often
found along hiking and bike trails, and is often spread by pedestrian and bike traffic. Leaves
are compound and in groups of 3-5, and about 5 inches long, resembling carrot leaves.
Flowers are small and white, in clusters of 10-20 flowers each, and bloom from June to
August. Japanese Hedge Parsley in a biennial plant that can grow to 6 feet tall in the
second year. Prevent the spread of Japanese Hedge Parsley by washing footwear, bike
tires, and other gear after leaving infested areas.
Control methods:
Removal is easily done by hand-pulling.

Senior Golf Pass now available
The Mendota Heights Par 3 Community Golf Course is offering a new special for adults
ages 65 and older. Through the end of the 2021 season, seniors can purchase a golf pass
for $200. Included with the Senior Golf Pass:
One round per pass holder per day; identification and season pass is required at
check- in.
Hours of play/use: Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 1:00pm.
Pass covers greens fees only; carts are not included.
Tee times are available first come, first serve and may not be made more than seven
days in advance.
Golfers/senior pass holders will not be able to play on the course when a portion of
the holes or the entire course is closed due to weather, course maintenance, city
programming or other special events.
You must be age 65+ when registering.
Passes are not transferable or refundable.
All other course rules apply.
All passes must be purchased in person at City Hall during regular business hours.
Passes are not available to purchase at the Par 3. Payment can be made by cash, check,
or credit card.
