Coming soon to the heart
of Mendota Heights is
The Linden
Project partners gathered for a ceremonial
groundbreaking of The Linden, a new mixed-
use development located at 725 Linden
Street, on August 13. The Linden is a new
luxury rental building for adults 55 and older,
that will feature 48 units with a full host of
amenities.
The property has been owned by the City of
Mendota Heights; Grand Real Estate
Advisors' proposal was chosen from a competitive field. The City Council liked the
combination of residential units, and a sit-down restaurant. The Linden is slated to open to
residents in September 2021.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Judd Fenlon, lead developer and founder of Grand Real
Estate Advisors said, “I’m extremely grateful to Mayor Garlock and the City
Councilmembers for sharing our vision for such a great site in the heart of Mendota Heights.
The vision for this project, brought forth by a group who grew up, studied, and raised
families in this same area, has been a response to what fellow Mendota Heights residents
have told us they want: a place in the heart of town to move when they become empty
nesters. They’ve shared with us the desire to have floor plans and amenities that give them
options to live a new lifestyle. We’ve already heard from local homeowners interested in
moving to The Linden, opening their homes for a new generation of Mendota Heights
families.”
Several members of the development team are members of the Mendota Heights
community and are very excited to see this addition come to life. Brian Kueppers, Mendota
Heights resident and partner in The Linden, says, “I grew up in Mendota Heights and have
now raised my family here. I am proud and excited to be a part of the team as we create a
highly desired development in the community.”
The main level of the building will feature a 5,000 square foot family-friendly restaurant.
Opened by local restauranteur Paul Dzubnar, this new and much anticipated dining addition
to Mendota Heights will feature a large outdoor patio and will serve breakfast, lunch and
dinner. Fenlon said, “Paul Dzubnar is one of the most respected restauranteurs in
Minnesota. He successfully develops restaurants that help build communities.”

Prepare for traffic impacts beginning
August 14
Eastbound I-494 weekend closures Aug. 14-17 and Aug. 21-24
Eastbound Highway 5 reopening, westbound Highway 5 closing Aug. 14
As MnDOT enters the final construction phase of the Around the Airport improvements,
motorists traveling near the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport should prepare for
traffic changes starting Friday, August 14, weather and schedule permitting:
EB I-494
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, eastbound Interstate 494 will close between Highway 5
in Bloomington and I-35E in Mendota Heights. The eastbound I-494 ramp to and from Pilot
Knob Road also will close at 7 p.m. Eastbound I-494 is expected to open by 5 a.m. Monday,
Aug. 17. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via southbound Highway 77/Cedar
Avenue and northbound I-35E. This section is also scheduled for closure the weekend of
Aug. 21-24.

Highway 5
Eastbound Highway 5 between I-494 and Highway 55/62, which has been closed since
April, will reopen Aug. 14. Westbound Highway 5 between Highway 55/62 and I-494 will
close after crews reopen the eastbound lanes.
Westbound Highway 5 motorists who wish to access Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St. Paul
International Airport will follow the signed detour using westbound Highway 55/62 to
southbound Highway 77 to eastbound Highway 5.
The Around the Airport project is making improvements to I-494 and Highway 5 near the
airport. During the closures, motorists should plan ahead and give themselves additional
time to reach their destinations.

How to use the Reduced Conflict
Intersection around the Crown Point
neighborhood
As part of the reconstruction of Highway 62, the Minnesota Department of Transportation
(MnDOT) added a Reduced Conflict Intersection for motorists leaving the Crown Point
neighborhood to be able to travel east. Motorists have not been using this intersection as
intended and have been driving off the pavement. To properly use this intersection, a
motorist should be crossing the nearest lane of traffic and merge with the far traffic lane.
MnDOT has provided the link to an instructional video on how these intersections should be
used at dot.state.mn.us/roadwork/rci/.
Mendota Heights businesses can receive a limited
supply of free disposable masks at City Hall
The City of Mendota Heights has received a limited number of disposable face masks which
have been made available by the State of Minnesota for distribution to local businesses.
Interested businesses may receive up to 200 of these masks, per week, by coming to City
Hall and filling out a short form requesting the masks at the front desk.
This distribution is in partnership with the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce
and is part of the State’s efforts to contain COVID-19.

Heights
Minnesota’s Stay Safe order is in effect. It is important
to note that protections for those in our communities
that are most vulnerable to the virus are still in place
and are those at greatest risk of serious illness are
encouraged to continue staying home. For more

Minnesotans are required to wear a face covering in all public indoor spaces and
businesses, unless you are alone, and other exceptions as noted. For more information and

In addition to the previously announced safety guidelines for City Hall visitors, face
coverings are required in all City facilities. Please follow the posted safety signage;
residents are still encouraged to use non-contact methods of communication, such as
phone and email, to conduct business when possible.

MHPD face coverings available
for purchase while supplies last
Purchase a limited-edition MHPD neck-gaiter-turned-face-
mask for $10.00 each at the Mendota Heights Par 3 golf
course, 1695 Dodd Road in Mendota Heights. The face
coverings are being sold at cost and must be purchased
with a credit or debit card.

Do not bring plastic bags for recycling to City Hall
Due to market conditions, City Hall cannot accept plastic bags for recycling at this time. To
locate a site that may be accepting plastic bags, visit plasticfilmrecycling.org. Bags must be
CLEAN AND DRY. No food-soiled, sticky zip lock bags, or residue-filled produce bags.

Adopt-a-drain has kept our local waterways cleaner and
healthier with 7,000+ storm drain adopters who have
adopted over 12,000 drains, keeping over 200,000 pounds
of debris out of our lakes, rivers and streams.
Their largest community outreach effort, The Minnesota
State Fair, was cancelled this year, so they're hoping you
can help spread the word! If you've already adopted a drain,
refer a friend to do so also. For any new adopter that names
you as their referrer when they sign up between now and Labor Day (9/7/2020), both you
and the new adopter will receive a free Adopt-a-Drain tote bag—perfect for showing off your

The Goombas live in concert
NEW DATE & TIME
Friday, August 21 | 6 to 8 p.m.
Mendakota Park
Popular area band “The Goombas” will have an in-
person concert at Mendakota Park on Friday, August 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The rain date
is Sunday, August 23.
The concert will be held in a manner to be in compliance with Governor Walz’s Executive
Order for COVID-19 for public gatherings. There will be a maximum of 250 people allowed
on site. Once that number is met, no additional people will be permitted to enter the park.
Because of COVID-19 social distancing requirements, all participants will need to group
themselves by household, and sit and remain located in one of the appropriately spaced
painted circles which will be on the ground. Audience members will be reminded to not
congregate during or following the concert, and to respect other attendees’ space. View the
