Par 3 Hosts Minny Tour Junior PGA Tournament
On July 1 the Par 3 enjoyed hosting this tournament. The “Minny” Tour is designed for

Closures/Traffic Impacts
I-494 Bridge & Pavement Improvements
An eight-mile section of I-494 between 3rd Avenue in
Inver Grove Heights and the east side of the Minnesota
River Bridge is undergoing pavement reconstruction and
bridge repair work, as well as lighting replacement, turn
lane installation and signal replacement at I-494/Pilot
Knob Road, drainage updates and pond construction.
The improvements will enhance safety, improve traffic
flow, provide a smoother riding surface and extend the
life of the pavement and bridges.
There will be several major traffic impacts during this
work including multiple weekend road closures on
various sections of I-494 in this area.
Mendota Day 2019 Parade This Saturday
The City of Mendota is hosting the Mendota Day Parade on Saturday, July 13, beginning
at noon. The parade takes place on Highway 13, with the road closing at 11:45am. After
the parade enjoy fun activities, great food, music, and more. Be on the lookout for

Solid Fencing Permitted Within Mendota Heights
At its meeting on July 2, the City Council adopted an ordinance allowing fencing to be
100% opaque (solid) screen panels. A fencing permit is required with a $25 permit fee.
Permit applications are available on the City website at: https://www.mendota-
heights.com/communitydevelopment. For questions on fencing please contact City Hall.

through Polco is gaining participation. This

Parsley
Japanese Hedge
Parsley (Torilis
japonica) is a new
invasive, non-native
plant species now
found in Minnesota. It
is in the carrot family
(Apiaceae), and the
leaves resemble the
leaves of many plants
in the carrot family,
so identify carefully.
Flowers are in flat,
white/pink bracted
clusters of umbels,
1.5-2 inches across. Individual flowers are notched, with 5 petals
of unequal stamens. Leaves and stems are covered in stiff hairs,
and appear in groups of 3-5 compound leaves, alternately
attached to the stem. Japanese Hedge Parsley is often found
along woodland edges, along roads, or in disturbed areas. If you
are unsure or if you think you may have Japanese Hedge Parsley
on your property, please contact City Staff (contact information
below) for a site visit and proper identification.
Control: Methods of removal and control include hand-pulling
or using a herbicide such as glyphosate or 2,4-D.

Volunteers Needed for Starry Trek—an “Enterprise”
to Search for Aquatic Invasive Species
The Dakota County Environmental Resources Department is seeking
volunteers to help in the early detection of the aquatic invasive species
starry stonewort on Saturday, August 17, from 8:30am to 1pm.
Volunteers will meet at the Camp Sacajawea Retreat Center in Apple
Valley for training before checking nearby lakes, and will return to
Camp Sacajawea to report their findings. No equipment or experience
is necessary. Participants under the age of 18 will need to be
accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Receive a gift for

Mendota Heights Par 3 is Open
The Par 3 is open! Play the 9-hole, par 27
golf course or 9-hole footgolf course.
Footgolf is a combination of golf and
soccer. Bring your own ball or rent one at
the course.

and groups/participants without foursomes may be paired with others

THEFT — 2XXX MENDAKOTA DR 07/04/19, 1657 HOURS
Responded to the 2000 block of Mendakota Drive on a report of an unlocked vehicle that had been entered
and tampered with and the owner’s credit cards stolen and then used in St. Paul. There is a picture of the
suspect using the credit card in St. Paul but they have yet to be identified. Case forwarded to Investigations.
ILLEGAL FIREWORKS — 2XXX LEMAY LAKE ROAD 07/04/19, 2140 HOURS
Responded to a citizen complaint of fireworks in the 2000 block of LeMay Lake Road. Officer arrived on
scene and cited the homeowner for possession of illegal fireworks.
ILLEGAL FIREWORKS — 2XXX LEMAY LAKE ROAD 07/04/19, 2150 HOURS
Observed a large illegal fireworks display in the 2000 block of LeMay Lake Road. Officer spoke with and
advised the homeowner he would be cited by mail.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT — 1XXX HWY 13 07/05/19, 0307 HOURS
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Hwy 13 on report of a disturbance coming from a vehicle heard on
an open 911 call. Upon arrival the vehicle was not located. Officers had Carver County Sheriff's Office check
the registered address of the owner of the cell phone but nothing was located. A continuous ping was set
up on the phone number and a KOPS alert was attached to the phone's owner. Eventually the suspect and
victim were located and the suspect was taken into custody and charged with Kidnapping, Domestic Assault
and 5th Degree Drugs.
DWI — MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD/DODD RD 07/05/19, 0307 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle near the intersection of Mendota Heights Road and Dodd Road.
After investigation, the adult female driver was found to be intoxicated and placed under arrest for DWI.
DWI — 1XXX DAKOTA DR 07/06/19, 0050 HOURS
Officer was dispatched to a medical on the 1000 block of Dakota Drive. Upon investigation, officer
discovered the patient was passed out in the boulevard outside of his vehicle. The driver admitted to
parking his vehicle at the bank because he was too intoxicated to drive home. Driver was booked and
released from Dakota County Jail for DWI.
DAR — SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY/GARDEN LN 07/06/19, 1519 HOURS
While on patrol, officers conducted a random license plate query of a vehicle and the registered owner
showed a revoked license. The RO was the driver and his history shows an extensive history of not showing
up for citations. Driver stated that he doesn't have insurance on the vehicle. Driver was arrested for DAR.
FOUND ANIMAL — 6XX APACHE LN 07/07/19, 1812 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Apache Lane on a report of an injured cat in the homeowner ’s
driveway. The caller reported the cat appeared to be in a seizure. Officers arrived and transported the cat
to an emergency animal hospital. The cat had no collar and officers were unable to locate a microchip.
FRAUD — 1XXX IVY HILL DR 07/08/19, 1316 HOURS
Officer took a report of fraud from a resident on the 1000 block of Ivy Hill Drive. Resident was contacted by
scammers pretending to be with Xcel Energy. Scammers told resident her account would be closed if it was
not paid. Resident followed their instructions to pay with a prepaid credit card.

STOLEN VEHICLE — 2XXX DODD RD 07/08/19, 1557 HOURS
Officer responded to the 2000 block of Dodd Road on a report of a stolen trailer. The officer entered the
trailer into NCIC. Case under investigation.
FRAUD — 1XXX JAMES RD 07/08/19, 1735 HOURS
Officer took a fraud report from a caller who stated an unknown person called her saying that they were
from Xcel Energy and needed money for an overdue account. Caller purchased gift cards and gave the
information to the scammer.
MISSING PERSON — 6XX HAMPSHIRE DR 07/08/19, 1920 HOURS
Officer spoke with a party about her missing son. Reporting party said that her son went for a walk to Saint
Paul to a known location but did not show up when he was supposed to. Caller later stated the her son
safely returned.
FOUND PROPERTY — LEXINGTON AVENUE 07/09/19, 1000 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to the PD Lobby to recover a checkbook that had been found. Learned the owner
had items stolen from their vehicle in Bloomington. Advised to let them know of the recovery and ensure
accounts are closed and monitored.
ANIMAL CALL — 1XXX VICTORIA CURVE 07/09/19, 1319 HOURS
Officers found a dog at large in the Police Department parking lot. Dog did not have a tag or chip. Dog was
transported to South Saint Paul Animal Hospital to be held for owner. Case status cleared with report.
THEFT — 9XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY 07/09/19, 2134 HOURS
Officer took a report of theft from the 900 block of Sibley Memorial Highway. Reporting party said they had
a gas can taken from inside of their vehicle. No suspects known. Investigation pending receipt of video
surveillance.
ASSIST OTHER AGENCY—LEXINGTON/HWY 13 07/11/19, 0820 HOURS
Officers were called to assist a neighboring agency near the intersection of Highway 13 and Lexington
Avenue in apprehending a suspect. On arrival, officers detained the suspect for the requesting agency and
assisted with the towing of the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle was brought to the Mendota Heights Police
Department for the execution of a search warrant. Officers also transported the suspect ’s daughter to the
Police Department to wait for a relative to pick her up.
COUNTERFEIT/SCAM—1XXX HWY 62 07/11/19, 1729 HOURS
Officer was dispatched to a counterfeit currency call that occurred on the 1000 block of Highway 62. The
reporting party made a sale of a gaming system in a parking lot. After the transaction, the reporting party
realized the other half paid in counterfeit 100 dollar bills. Case is active.
