Please use caution and follow the safety procedures on the Adopt-a-Drain website. You can even track how much you are collecting using the website. It is a simple, easy way you can help do your part to improve water quality in our community! Low Waste Road Trip If you are traveling or taking a road trip this summer, there are a few things you can do to create less trash over your vacation and make it more eco-friendly.  Top up your tires: Check tire pressures to ensure they are at the correct pressure. Your car will be more gas- efficient which will save you money.  Snacks: Bring a cooler and stock up on water and beverages to curtail buying from gas stations. Choose snacks that do not require refrigeration and that will last a few days, and buy without packaging as much as possible. Try items such as bananas, apples, peanut butter, jelly, hummus, veggie sticks, nuts, and beef jerky.  Toiletries: Did you know the free shampoo and conditioner bottles given out by hotels are usually too small to be captured by sorting machines at recycling facilities, therefore ending up as trash? Take along some bar soap and your own toiletries or reusable travel-sized containers filled with your own products. You can buy these in the travel section of most stores for a couple of dollars, and can use them for years to come.  Main meals: If possible, stop for a real meal in a restaurant that uses real flatware versus going through a drive thru. Fast food creates a lot of unnecessary waste that is avoidable. Another great option is grabbing food at a gas station hot bar like hot dogs or soup, where you could bring your own container to fill. Of course you can always make sandwiches and stock up your cooler before hand. Safe travels! Saturday, June 15 Noon-3pm Robert Trail Library 14395 S.
