There were a total of 7,435 voters who cast their ballots – a significant increase from the last midterm election in 2014. The unofficial results indicate Mayor Neil Garlock will be elected to his second term as Mayor. Councilors Elizabeth Petschel (third term) and Ultan Duggan (fifth term) will also be reelected to serve. The elected Mayor and Council members will be sworn in at the first Council meeting of 2019. Results are unofficial until the City canvasses and approves them on November 13. A big thank you to the 50 election judges and 11 precinct captains who facilitated at the polls, and also many City staff members who put in long hours to help the voting process run smoothly. NOV NOV 19 13 Street Sweeping to Begin Weather permitting, street sweeping is anticipated to begin Tuesday, November 13, and be completed in approximately three to four days. This helps to keep storm drains in proper working order, and the system clear of sediment, leaves, and decomposing plant material that would be damaging to local lakes and rivers. Debris collected by street sweeping is hauled to an approved landfill. How you can help:  Keep vehicles off of the street until sweepers have cleaned both sides of the street  Remind neighbors to keep vehicles off of the street until sweepers are finished  Keep trash cans behind the curb on collection day  DO NOT push/rake leaves, grass, or other debris into the street, from your yard or from adjacent yards (it is illegal and prohibited by City Code) More information: https://www.mendota-heights.com/index.asp?SEC=7C35E4A1-2207-41B6- 8565-84AB5DC7C90A&DE=27545E5C-7E06-4998-AB6C-688614C1CA7C November 9, 2018 FRIDAY NEWS from the City of Mendota Heights Upcoming Public Meeting Dates: Nov 12 City Hall & Public Works Closed Nov 13 Joint Parks & Recreation Comm & City Council Meeting | 6:00 pm Nov 14 Airport Relations Comm Meeting | 7:00 pm Nov 19 Plan Comm Workshop | 4:00 pm Nov 20 City Council Meeting | 7:00 pm Nov 22 City Hall & Public Works Closed Nov 23 City Hall Closed (Public Works Open) Nov 27 Planning Comm Meeting | 7:00 pm Mendota Heights City Hall 1101 Victoria Curve www.mendota-heights.com 651.452.1850 Hours: 8:00 am—4:30 pm Stay Connected: Facebook.com/ MendotaHeightsMN Facebook.com/ MHParksandRec Facebook.com/ MendotaHeightsPD Twitter.com/ @mendota_heights Twitter.com/ @mheightsPD Solar Energy in Action Did you know that the City of Mendota Heights has several buildings using solar energy? Own a Piece of History...Highway 110 Signs Sign-up to request purchase of a Hwy 110 Sign In August, MnDOT changed the names of Highway 110 to Highway 62. The reason for this change was to minimize diver confusion to, and from, the MSP airport. The Highway will be dual named as Highway 110/62 for one year. As the Old Highway 110 signs are removed next summer, residents may purchase one of the approximately 20 signs that will be available. If more than 20 people are interested in the signs, names will be drawn randomly. To request a sign: Contact the Oakdale Sign Shop via email: metsignshop.dot@state.mn.us. Signs are approximately 24”x30” in size and will cost $1.50/SF. The sign will need to be picked up in Oakdale.
