Food Drive
City Hall is collecting non-perishable food items
for Neighbors Inc. throughout the holiday season.
Donations can be dropped into the collection bin
located in the City Hall lobby. Especially needed
are shelf-stable: pancake mix, instant potatoes,
white rice, pasta sauce, canned meats, syrup, jelly,
soup, shampoo, and deodorant.

Mendota Heights Community Service Officer
The City of Mendota Heights is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Service
Officer (CSO). The Community Service Officer position is a part-time, 20 hours per week position
within the Mendota Heights Police Department. The position is responsible for assisting citizens and
department staff, providing information, observing ordinance violations and responding to calls for
service or complaints.
Interested candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have a valid
Minnesota Driver's License. Other requirements include the ability to pass a thorough background
investigation, psychological evaluation, and a physical examination including drug testing.
2018 Starting Salary: $18.89 per hour. The CSO position is a benefit eligible position. Application

public street, from 2:00 am to 6:00
am, between November 1 and March
31. Parking is prohibited during any
snowfall, of 2 inches or more, until
the street is plowed curb to curb.

Own a Piece of History...Highway 110 Signs
Sign-up to request purchase of a Hwy 110 Sign
In August, MnDOT changed the names of Highway 110 to Highway 62. The reason
for this change was to minimize diver confusion to, and from, the MSP airport. The
Highway will be dual named as Highway 110/62 for one year. As the Old Highway
110 signs are removed next summer, residents may purchase one of the
approximately 20 signs that will be available. If more than 20 people are interested
in the signs, names will be drawn randomly.
To request a sign: Please note: previously published contact information for the signs has been
reported as incorrect. As soon as confirmed, new contact information will be
published. Signs are approximately 24”x30” in size and will cost $1.50/SF. The sign
will need to be picked up in Oakdale.
2040 Comprehensive Plan Update
The Comprehensive Plan is an official and formal document adopted by the
City every 10 years, and contains the City’s goals and policies as they relate
to land use, housing, parks and open space, transportation, utilities, and other
issues. The Comprehensive Plan provides a general future plan or guide for
the community from 2020 to 2040. The 2040 Comprehensive Plan update is
now underway.

It is illegal in Minnesota to dispose of yard and tree waste (grass, leaves, small brush,
plant materials) with your household garbage. This means it must be bagged in a com-
postable paper bag or reusable container and kept separate from your trash bin. Fall

Shoe Recycling Event
November 12-18 | 7 am -10 pm
Eagan Civic Arena, 3870 Pilot Knob Road
Drop-off any shoes in any condition. Shoes in
good condition will be cleaned up and reused
by giving to those in need. Shoes that are no
longer in good condition will be separated and
the parts, such as rubber and textiles, will be
recycled.

Smart Food Storage Tips for Thanksgiving
Squash and potatoes: store in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place
Carrots: store in the fridge in a container of water; cut tops off to last longer
Mushrooms: store in a paper bag in the fridge to avoid getting “slimy”
Celery: store upright in a glass of water in the fridge, like a flower
Broccoli: wrapped in a damp towel or cotton bag, store loosely in the fridge
Herbs: other than basil, can be stored upright in a glass of water filled with 1-2
inches of water, like a flower, in the fridge. Freeze leftovers by chopping and filling
an ice cube tray with olive oil.

1. Install Security Cameras It is one of the best ways to prevent
someone from stealing your packages from your front door,
hallway, or driveway. Try devices with enhanced capabilities,
critical to preventing crime and capturing crooks.
2. Require Signature or Sign Up for Alerts Requesting/Requiring
a signature for delivery may be annoying or disruptive, but the
alternative could be worse. If there is a delivery option that offers
delivery notifications, sign up for them. Or considering ordering
from the store with the option to pick it up at a convenient store
location. If packages need to be dropped, then plan to have
someone retrieve them as quickly as possible. Workplaces are
great for this.
3. Work with your Neighbors—working with neighbors can not only
help ensure packages are delivered reliably, but also keeps you
connected and vigilant for each other.
4. Request the Post Office Hold Your Mail—Going out of Town?
Stop your mail. Why risk it?
5. Be Secure Online—Be careful to only use secure internet
connection when applying your card and personal data to any
purchase. Also, use a credit card whenever possible for online
purchases as those transactions are protected from fraudulent
attempts to access and use your data.
6. Keep Purchases Out of Sight—Keep your eyes peeled for
suspicious lurkers when you head to your car and ensure
packages are secured out of sight in your trunk.
7. No Red Flags—Do not signal crooks you have opportunity for
them by using the red flag on your mailbox. Your postal carrier will
always check for mail and do not require the flag to be up.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT ‐ ASHLEY LN/NORMA LN 11/09/18, 0753 HOURS
Officer was dispatched to the intersecƟon of Ashley Lane and Dodd Road to the report of a motorist stuck
in the roadway. The officer arrived and was speaking to the party when another vehicle struck the legally
parked patrol car. The accident was ulƟmately invesƟgated by the MN State Patrol.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE ‐ 1XXX TWIN CIRCLE DR 11/09/18, 0925 HOURS
Officer was dispatched to locaƟon a theŌ from vehicle report. SomeƟme during the overnight hours,
unknown suspect (s) entered vicƟms unlocked vehicle and stole old CD’s.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT ‐ LEXINGTON AVE/HWY 62 11/09/18, 1347 HOURS
Responded to two vehicle crash in the area of Hwy 62 and Lexington Ave. There were no injuries and no
damage to either vehicle. One of the drivers was issued a citaƟon for driving aŌer revocaƟon.
ANIMAL ‐ 7XX 3RD AVE 11/09/18, 1428 HOURS
Officer dispatched to 700 Block of 3rd Avenue to invesƟgate a possible animal aƩack between a pet fox and
a dog. InvesƟgaƟon showed all pets were up to date on shots, no injuries to dog. No further police
intervenƟon needed.
BURGLARY ‐ 2XXX PATRICIA ST 11/09/18, 1628 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Patricia Street on the report of a past acƟon burglary.
Officers spoke to the resident who stated their house had been burglarized over a month prior. The Officer
obtained the required informaƟon and a report was wriƩen.
ALCOHOL SALE TO MINOR ‐ 1XXX NORTHLAND DR 11/09/18, 1628 HOURS
While conducƟng annual compliance checks of businesses, an employee sold alcohol to a minor. Forwarded
to City AƩorney for formal charges and City Clerk to civil penalty against business.
THEFT ‐ 1XXX MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD 11/10/18, 2200 HOURS
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Mendota Heights Road for a reported theŌ. Officers were told on
arrival that a male suspect had ran into the store and stole a display case full of electronic cigareƩes then
fled the scene. The store manager will be retrieving video of the incident. Case pending.
BURGLARY ‐ 1XXX NORTHLAND DR 11/12/18, 0635 HOURS
Officer took a report of burglary from the 1300 block of Northland Dr. Entry was done through a air
condiƟoning panel. An office was entered and power tools were taken from a tool box. No suspects
known. Case pending.
THEFT OF SERVICES ‐ 1XXX NORTHLAND DR 11/12/18, 2258 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Northland Drive for a report of an individual who was unable
to pay for a taxi service. The individual was issued a citaƟon for theŌ of services.

BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 0702 HOURS
Officer responded to the 700 block of S. Plaza Way concerning a theŌ from unlocked vehicle overnight. It
was later determined that a burglary had taken place and suspects were observed on video surveillance.
Pending further invesƟgaƟon.
BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 0818 HOURS
Responded to the 700 block of South Plaza Way concerning a burglary report. Suspects forced entry into
the complex through the main entry door and forced entry into a storage locker in the underground
garage . Several items were taken. Case pending.
BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 0839 HOURS
Responded to address on South Plaza Way reference a burglary. VicƟm reported having his golf clubs and
bikes stolen. The items had been stored in a storage unit in the underground garage. Suspects were
captured on surveillance video forcing entry around 0345. Several other vicƟms reported similar crimes.
Case pending.
BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 0859 HOURS
Responded to the 700 block of South Plaza Way concerning a burglary report. VicƟm had a storage locker in
the underground garage broken into and items stolen. Suspects entered main complex by forcing entry.

BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 1432 HOURS
Dispatched to contact a party who resides on the 700 block of South Plaza Way concerning a theŌ from
vehicle that happened overnight. Suspects stole several items from her vehicle. The vehicle suffered no
damage. Suspects forced entry into the building main entry door prior to the theŌ. Case pending.
BURGLARY ‐ 7XX S PLAZA WAY 11/14/18, 1543 HOURS
Phone call, theŌ report. VicƟms vehicle was entered while parked in an underground garage in the 700
block of South Plaza Way. Three suspects forced entry into the residenƟal complex, stealing items from
vehicles and storage lockers. There is video surveillance of the suspects.
THEFT ‐ 1XXX DELAWARE AVE 11/15/18, 0822 HOURS
Officer responded to locaƟon on a theŌ report. A backpack and its contents were stolen. Case pending
video surveillance.
