Safety Camp
There are a few more openings for Safety Camp. Register your child today.
Camp leaders include volunteers from local police and fire departments. Participants will learn about stranger safety, internet safety, fire safety, and
practice personal defense. On Thursday, we will take a field trip to a wa-
ter park to practice the water safety skills we learned.

Disease
Feeding closely congregated animals that would otherwise feed apart on natural
foods dramatically increases the odds of an infected animal will spread Chronic
Wasting Disease, bovine tuberculosis or brucellosis via nose to nose contact.
Eating feed contaminated by other animals disease carrying saliva or inhaling
bacteria.
Auto accidents
Feeding often draws animals away from natural feeding locations into high traffic
areas.
Habitat and crop loss
High concentrations of deer can retard forest regeneration, change plant species
composition and cause significant crop depredation. They damage privately
owned crops, vegetable gardens and ornamental plants.
Behavior changes
Feeding can make wild animals less fearful of humans, delay winter migration and
even result in starvation if animals have not migrated to wintering areas and
feeding ceases.
DEER AND THE DNR
It is not uncommon for deer to eat themselves
to death despite having fat reserves. While
providing piles of corn, hay, or other feed can
feel like a good act, it often results in bad
consequences like the following:
Feeding & attractant ban
A deer feeding ban is in effect for all or
portions of 11 Minnesota counties. Feed is
defined as salt, minerals, grains, fruit,
vegetables, nuts, hay, and other food that is
capable of attracting or enticing deer.
People who feed small birds or small
mammals must do so in a manner that
precludes deer access or place the food at
least six feet above ground level.

MISUSE OF 911 — 2XXX Swan Dr 6/01/18, 0201 HOURS
Officers responded to a report of an adult being held hostage in a home. It was determined that the party
was not being held hostage and was upset at the residence. The female was eventually located and
admitted to misusing a 911 emergency line. The report was forwarded for charging.
TRAFFIC STOP — Town Centre Dr/Denmark Ave 6/01/18, 1243 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop on a driver for no seatbelt. Driver gave the officer his brother ’s name
because he was revoked. Driver was issued a citation for No Seatbelt, DAR, and False Name to Police
Officer. He was then booked and released into Dakota County Jail.
THEFT — 1XXX Northland Dr 6/01/18, 1309 HOURS
Officer took a report of a theft that occurred at a business. The business had ordered a package online to
be delivered. They received notification that it was delivered but the package was not there. No suspect
information. Case inactive.
DOMESTIC — 1XXX Summit Ln 6/01/18, 1736 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to location on a report of a domestic. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who
stated he was in a fight with his mother and that she left him at the school. Officers located the mother
and took a statement. Case forwarded to Dakota County Social Services.
MEDICAL — 7XX Woodridge Dr 6/01/18, 2056 HOURS
Officers responded to location on a call of a juvenile female who was unconscious. She was determined to
be intoxicated and was transported to the hospital.
WARRANT ARREST — Sibley Memorial Hwy/London Rd 6/02/18, 1445 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop for speed. Upon identifying the driver, he had an active warrant out of
Isanti County for his arrest. The vehicle was towed and the driver was arrested.
AOA — Dodd Rd/Lone Oak Rd 6/02/18, 2040 HOURS
Officer assisted Eagan PD in locating an intoxicated adult male near the intersection. The male was located
and was ultimately arrested by Eagan PD for DWI.
THEFT — 2XXX Patricia St 6/03/18, 1244 HOURS
Officer took a theft and property damage report from homeowner. Homeowner stated that sometime
overnight someone had broke out his vehicle window with a rock and stole items from the vehicle. No
suspects.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT — Lilydale Rd/Hwy 13 6/04/18, 1915 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle property damage accident. In speaking with both parties, it was
determine that driver one stopped the vehicle to wait for a turkey to cross the road when they were struck
by driver two from behind. There was a small amount of damage to the bumper of the vehicle.

THEFT — 1XXX Somerset Ct 06/05/18, 2125 HOURS
Officer responded to a location on a theft report. Reporting party had their unlocked vehicle gone through
and his wallet was stolen. He notified his bank and the bank said his card had already been used twice at
an SA and a Walmart. Case under investigation.
TAMPERING WITH MV — 1XXX Dodd Rd 06/06/18, 0921 HOURS
Officer took a report of their vehicles being tampered with sometime overnight. The owners are unsure if
anything was taken. Case inactive.
DISTURBING THE PEACE — 1XXX Windy Ridge Pl 06/06/18, 1141 HOURS
Officers responded to a 911 hang up that escalated into a physical altercation. In speaking with the parties
involved, there was an argument over which path the construction trucks should take. No injuries were
reported and neither party wished to file charges.
DISTURBING THE PEACE/THEFT — 9XX Sibley Memorial Hwy 06/07/18, 0146 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to location on a report of a male arguing with staff. The male left prior to officers
arriving on scene. A citation was mailed to the male for theft and disorderly conduct.
HIT & RUN ACCIDENT — 9XX Sibley Memorial Hwy 06/07/18, 1229 HOURS
Officers responded to location on a hit and run accident. One of the vehicles involved left thirty minutes
prior to the call without giving information to the other driver. No suspect or vehicle information was
given.
BURGLARY — 1XXX Ivy Hill Dr 06/07/18, 1659 HOURS
Officer took a burglary report from a homeowner who stated that sometime overnight, someone entered
her closed garage and stole items from her vehicle. Reporting party believes she knows who the suspect (s)
are but cannot prove that. Case inactive.
AOA/MENTAL HEALTH — 7XX Marie Ave 06/07/18, 2247 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to assist Bloomington PD in attempting to locate a suicidal female that was
believed to be in the area. Officers were able to locate the female and she was transported to the hospital
for evaluation.

MHPD has a Medication Disposal Box in the lobby of the
PD where Dakota County residents can safely and
anonymously dispose of their prescription drugs and
over-the-counter medication.
