Their amazing resources are designed to help you work with
your family to build the bridge to safety with the right tools and
reinforcements. Below are some of their recommendations.
911 FOR SAFETY
Anytime someone feels scared or threatened by suspicious
persons or situations, 911 for Safety should be the first call made.
Get help on the way for the quickest action and investigation.
VIGILANCE VS STRANGER DANGER
Teach kids about identifying trusted persons. If there’s a
problem, who can and should they turn to? Help them know that
while there are some bad people in the world, most people in
this world are kind and want them to be safe and strong.
TRUST THE “UH-OH” FEELING:
We could all remember this trick! When you get that icky gut
feeling, remove yourself from the situation, seek help and tell
someone.
SECRETS VS SURPRISES:
Surprises are fun, withheld for fun purposes; secrets should not
be kept from parents. Teach them the difference so they know
how and when information should be shared. If the info feels
wrong or bad, share it.
USE “WHAT IF” SCENARIOS:
Talk about scenarios that might seem safe but are probably not.
Remember that Adults don’t ask kids for help with Adult
Problems. Teach them to when to run, hide or fight. Try using
code words to small children safely identify their trusted person
in a real emergency.

POSESSION OF MARIJUANA — 1XXX Delaware Ave 04/19/18, 1200 HOURS
Responded to the 1800 block of Delaware Avenue on a report of a juvenile in possession of marijuana,
alcohol and tobacco. The juvenile was turned over to their parents and a citation will be issued for the
offenses.
FOUND PROPERTY — Hwy 13 04/20/18, 0911 HOURS
Officer received found property that was found on Highway 13/ Garden Lane. Attempted to locate owner.
Property placed into safe keeping.
DRUNKENESS — 2XXX Lexington Ave 04/21/18, 0320 HOURS
Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lexington for an intoxicated adult male in the parking lot. His
spouse was notified and he was released to her care.
FOUND PROPERTY — 5XX High Ridge Circle 04/21/18, 1749 HOURS
Officer responded to the 500 block of High Ridge Circle on a report of a found bicycle. Bicycle taken into
custody and entered into property for safe keeping.
DISTURBING THE PEACE — 1XXX Lower D Street 04/22/18, 0100 HOURS
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Lower D Street on a call of a party that was loud and getting
physical. One adult male was placed under arrest and ultimately transported to the hospital.
BURGLARY — 2XXX Lemay Lake Road 04/23/18, 1755 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to a burglary at the 2300 block of Lemay Lake Rd. The reporting party stated that
his house had been gone thru and that his front door was open when he arrived home. Officers checked
the house and gathered evidence. Gathered information. Report written.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY — 1XXX Ivy Hill 04/23/18, 2149 HOURS
A neighbor called to report a suspicious person kicking the front door of her neighbors house located in
the 1100 block of Ivy Hill. The vehicle left and the suspects have not been identified. A neighboring agency
is following up to try and find the suspects vehicle. The case is still under investigation.
DUI — 1XXX Hwy 110 04/23/18, 2246 HOURS
Three juveniles were seen by staff at a local gas station in the 1000 block of highway 110 and they
appeared to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. The suspect vehicle was found and stopped
in the parking lot of the gas station. The driver was arrested for DWI and released to his mother after
providing a blood sample for testing. The two passengers were also released to their parents with citations.
RUNAWAY — 2XXX Fox Place 04/24/18, 2256 HOURS
Dispatched to report of a runaway at the 2100 block of Fox Pl. The father stated that his son left his
grandparent's residence after a fight and has not returned home. Gathered information. Report written and
juvenile entered as runaway.

MHPD offers Car Seat Safety Checks. If you or someone
you know is in need of some assistance in installing a
car seat the proper way or just simply need advice,
we’re here to help! Please contact MHPD CSO,
Eric Hagelee to schedule an appointment.
MHPD has a Medication Disposal Box in the lobby of the
PD where Dakota County residents can safely and
anonymously dispose of their prescription drugs and
over-the-counter medication.
