Alert your credit card provider of travel plans so you can use it when needed. Know the process for securing medical aid and help, including location of the embassy. Ensure driver and vehicle licenses and insurance are all valid and your vehicle is travel ready and pack your safety kit. Keep the valuables at home and bring only items that you truly need. Expensive jewelry and electronics are only temptations for thieves. Keep them locked and out of sight. Post your fun photos of your vacation when you return home. Thieves love to know you aren’t home! Watch your Back: Be wary of the data you provide in public places, such as your phone or room number, credit card info or if you are alone. Be aware of who is around you and may be listening. TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER: Ensure someone knows where you are at all times. Stick with your friends, don’t go with strange people or go anywhere alone. Don’t over-indulge in alcohol or take narcotics—stay alert and remain in control of yourself and your surroundings. Set up “call-in” times with your kids on spring break. Your Personal Safety Comes First! If you are mugged or robbed, give up the valuables.
