April 7, 2017 Backyard Chickens Now Permitted In March, the City Council approved to allow residents to keep hens on their property—with certain limi- tations. Up to four female chickens (no roosters!) may be kept for the purpose of egg production, or companionship only. The hens must be kept in a coop, and a “chicken run” is required. Both the coop and the run must meet minimum and maximum size limitations. The eggs produced must be for personal consumption only, or be given away. No sale of the eggs, nor raising of the poultry for meat is permitted. Other limitations to ensure a minimum of impact on neighboring properties have been established. Be- fore proceeding, a permit must be obtained from the City. For more information, please contact the Community Development Department at 651.452.1850. Presentation of the Jerry Murphy Award Members of the public are invited to attend the inaugural presentation of the Garold “Jerry” Murphy Community Service Award on Tuesday, April 18th. The purpose of the award is to recognize the individ- ual who has been selected as an outstanding volunteer in the Mendota Heights community, in the spirit of the contributions of long-time Police Reservist and consummate volunteer Jerry Murphy. The winner of this first award is Ted Kronschnabel. Among other things, Ted has been active in youth athletics with MHAA soccer and baseball, and the Sibley Area Hockey Association. He is a regular volun- teer in the local schools, and has been active in the PTA program in the Mendota Heights area. A reception honoring Ted will be held from 6 PM to 7 PM that evening in the lobby of City Hall. The award will be presented immediately following that at the City Council meeting. Friends and associates of Ted are invited to attend, and congratulate him on bring the recipient of this new award. This was done without owner consent. Report made. Case Pending. VEHICLE THEFT — 2XXX Pilot Knob Road FRIDAY, 3/31/2017, 2119 HOURS An individual called to report that his vehicle had been stolen out of the parking lot at his place of business while he was on a work trip. Case Pending. JUV ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION — 6XX Sibley Court FRIDAY. 3/31/2017, 2305 HOURS During the investigation of a noise complaint, a juvenile party was located and subsequently shut down. While the party was dispersing a citation was issued to an adult male for drinking under the legal age. BURGLARY — 1XXX Downing Street SATURDAY, 4/1/2017, 0833 HOURS Officers responded to the 1XXX block of Downing St for found property. Some items had a nearby address on them. Officers attempted contact at that address and found the garage open. Officers entered the unlocked home and made contact with the owner whom confirmed the items were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the garage. The owner called back the next day to report another item stolen. This case is inactive due to lack of solvability factors. THEFT — 2XXX Pilot Knob Road SATURDAY, 4/1/2017, 1830 HOURS Theft from unlocked vehicle at the end of Pilot Knob Rd. No suspects. Case Inactive. THEFT OF GAS — 2XXX Dodd Road SUNDAY, 4/2/2017, 1007 HOURS A gas drive off occurred at a local service station. The license plate given by the employee did not match the vehicle description. This matter is not under investigation. Exceptionally cleared. THEFT — 1XXX Northland Drive MONDAY, 4/3/2017, 0815 HOURS Responded to 1200 block of Northland Dr concerning a theft of catalytic convertor from a parked vehicle that occurred yesterday during daytime hours. No suspects, witnesses or surveillance. IDENTITY THEFT — 1XXX Mayfield Heights Lane MONDAY, 4/3/2017, 1321 HOURS Responded to 1000 block of Mayfield Heights concerning a theft report. Reporting party had bank account accessed by a known party and money transferred from one account to another posing as the reporting party. Suspect located, admitted to theft in a statement. Forwarded for charging, probation also contacted ANIMAL CALL — Delaware Ave MONDAY, 4/3/2017, 1534 HOURS Responded to the area of Delaware/MHRD concerning a found beagle that was running in the roadway. Dog had no collars or tags. Turned over to Four Paws. 3 PARKING COMPLAINTS — Waters Drive TUESDAY, 4/4/2017, 1254 HOURS Responded to the area of Hwy 55/Waters Dr concerning a parking complaint. Unoccupied vehicle was stalled blocking the roadway. I located vehicle and determined it was a safety hazard for passing vehicles. Vehicle owner for offense and vehicle towed due to serious hazard. Vehicle entered as impound. FRAUD — 2XX Stonebridge Lane TUESDAY, 4/4/2017, 1333 HOURS Phone call report to resident from 200 block of Stonebridge. Credit card used fraudulently online. No suspect info. DRUGS — Lemay Lake Road WEDNESDAY, 4/5/2017, 2133 HOURS Officers were called to assist a stalled vehicle. Subsequent investigation led to finding that the car was stolen and had suspected drugs and paraphernalia in it as well. Three adults were arrested in connection with this incident. Vehicle towed by Southeast Towing to be returned to the owner. DRIVING AFTER REVOCATION — Dodd Road THURSDAY, 4/6/2017, 1412 HOURS On routine patrol on 1900 block of Dodd Rd, routine license plate check of vehicle showed expired registration. Traffic stop initiated, driver ultimately cited for DAR and arrested for 3 misdemeanor warrants. Driver released to the custody of Ramsey County Jail. Valid driver drove vehicle from scene. WARRANT ARREST — 7XX HWY 110 THURSDAY, 4/6/2017, 1849 HOURS While investigating a suspicious situation in the 700 Block of Highway 110, officers learned that the subject had an active warrant.
