160,000 children skip school every day in fear of being attacked or intimated by other
students.
The U.S. Department of Justice reports that 37% of all students don’t feel safe at school.
The National Institute of Health reports that 1/3 of all students in 6th to 10th grade
nationwide, experience some kind of bullying.
90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying behavior.
6 in 10 children who bully will have a criminal record before age 24.
Bullying also happens when adults are present who cannot see or hear it but often
times, adults are present and don’t do anything to stop it. Students reported that 71%
of teachers or adults in classrooms ignore the behavior.
Bullying takes lots of forms and they keep bullying as long as it works and makes them
feel powerful.
Girls can also be bullies. Often times they do it as spreading rumors, leaving people out,
teasing about clothes or boyfriends or withdrawing friendship.
Bullying begins in elementary school, peaks in middle school and falls off in high school.
It does not however, disappear.
PARENTS:
Teach Children What To Do If They Are Being Bullied Or See Someone Being Bullied
Hang with friends—there is safety in numbers.
Say “no” to a bully’s demands from the start. If the bully threatens with a weapon,
comply, then tell an adult.
Tell the bully assertively to stop threatening, “get a life” or “ leave me alone.”
Do not physically fight back.
Seek immediate help from an adult.
Report bullying to school personnel and parents.
If you are assaulted or threatened with a weapon or have personal belongings stolen,
report the incident to the police.
Avoid or ignore the bully,
If safety is at stake, walk away or run if needed.

5TH DEG DRUGS/DWI — 9XX Sibley Memorial Hwy FRIDAY, 4/07/2017, 0209 HOURS
A local business called to report that an intoxicated male was in their parking lot attempting to operate a motor vehicle. Officers arrived to find the male sleeping in his vehicle. They woke him up and could immediately smell alcohol coming from his person. Field sobriety tests were conducted and he was ultimately arrested for DWI and 5th degree drugs from marijuana candy bars found in the vehicle.
DAC-IPS — Hwy 13/Pilot Knob Rd FRIDAY, 4/07/2017, 1355 HOURS
Routine license plate check revealed the male RO to have a driving status of DAC-IPS. Driver was in fact the RO. Plates were removed and vehicle towed. Driver was arrested and transported to Dakota County Jail.
DOMESTIC — 1XXX Delaware Ave FRIDAY, 4/07/2017, 1735 HOURS
Squads were dispatched to a residence on a family domestic. Officers were able to mediate the dispute and advised the adult child that they should leave for the night.
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — 1XXX Diane Rd SATURDAY, 4/08/2017, 1534 HOURS
Officers responded to a city park in reference to possible drug activity in a vehicle. Officers arrived and could smell marijuana and also see the driver smoking something from a pipe. The driver and passenger were in possession of drug paraphernalia and both issued citations.
MENTAL HEALTH — 2XXX Whitfield Dr SATURDAY, 4/08/2017, 2028 HOURS
Officers were dispatched to location on a mental health related call. The RP’s son was reported to have been punching a wall. The son has been diagnosed with several mental health conditions and it was decided that his mother would transport home to the hospital.
RECOVERED STOLEN PLATE — Riverside Ln/Aspen Way SUNDAY, 4/09/2017, 1122 HOURS
Officer responded to the area concerning a found license plate. The plate was confirmed as a stolen plate from a neighboring agency. The license plate was destroyed yet the other plate is still outstanding.
THEFT OF GAS — 1XXX Hwy 110 SUNDAY, 4/09/2017, 1245 HOURS
Officer responded to location on an after the fact gas drive-off report. Suspect pumped $70 worth of gasoline and left without paying. The license plate information was obtained from employee and the vehicle description and plate match. The area was checked and vehicle was not located.
FOUND PROPERTY — 1XXX Hwy 13 MONDAY, 4/10/2017, 2104 HOURS
Officer responded to location for a found bicycle. The RP found the bicycle behind an out building. The bicycle is a red Specialized Crosstrail.

MEDICAL — 6XX Pond View Drive TUESDAY, 4/11/2017, 0725 HOURS
Officers responded to residence on a work place accident with injuries. A roofer fell approximately 15 feet off a roof during a project. The patient was transported to the hospital.
AGGRESSIVE DOG — 6XX Cheyenne Ln TUESDAY, 4/11/2017, 1844 HOURS
A citizen had previously reported a run in with a neighbors dog. No injuries or bites were reported at the initial incident. Upon reflection, the resident found that he had suffered scratches and bruising when he was forced off of his bike by the dog. A notice was sent to the owner of the aggressive dog labeling it, potentially dangerous.
IDENTITY THEFT — 1XXX Sibley Memorial Hwy THURSDAY, 4/13/2017, 1034 HOURS
Officer took a walk-in report from a victim of mail/identity theft. The victim had her mail stolen in the recent months and was notified yesterday via letter by USPS. USPS does have several suspects that may be in relation to this case. Under investigation.
DOMESTIC — 6XX North Freeway Rd THURSDAY, 4/13/2017, 1950 HOURS
Officer responded to location on a verbal argument between girlfriend and boyfriend. The coupe had been arguing about multiple issues. The male half left prior to officer arrival. There were no allegations of any crimes. Officer made contact with the male via phone. The dispute was mediated and a plan was made and agreed upon by both parties.
