Plastic Bag Recycling
Is now available at Mendota Heights City Hall
You can now recycle clean, dry, plastic bags and film packaging at
city hall. There is a collection can inside the main entrance's doors.
See the attached flyer for more information about what is, and what
is not, recyclable.
Summer Recreation Hiring Underway
The City of Mendota Heights Parks and Recreation Department is
seeking fun and energetic individuals to lead summer programs for

Annual Tree Sale
Friends of the Parks-Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County is delighted to offer thirteen fine
selections of trees, shrubs, roses, and vines. Order for yourself, give a living gift to some-
one else, or donate to a park. With the devastating effects of emerald ash borer taking a toll
on our urban forest, your donation is incredibly important to help municipalities replace
dead and dying ash trees.
Order deadline is April 21st. Pickup is May 6, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in either Maple-
wood or St. Paul. Orders can be placed online at http://friendsoftheparks.org/annual-tree-
sale.

Joint Mendota Heights / West St. Paul / South St. Paul Shredding Event
On Saturday, April 22nd, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, residents can shred their con-
fidential papers. The event will be held at the West St. Paul City Hall, Municipal Park-
ing Lot, 1616 Humboldt Avenue. Pioneer SecureShred staff will collect and secure
the material into a locking security container and will transport it directly to the mo-
bile shredding vehicle. The material is deposited directly into the shredding chamber
without being touched by human hands. The shredded material is then sent to a re-
cycler.
Please remove 3-ring binders, paper clips, or metal tabs on file folders.

DAR/DAS/DAC….DUH, WHAT?
In the “Week in Review” you may note the frequency of driver violaƟons,
such as Driving aŌer RevocaƟon (DAR), Driving AŌer Suspension (DAS)
and Driving AŌer CancellaƟon (DAC). Failure to pay traffic or parking Ɵckets, being
convicted of a serious offense or being a habitual offender can result in this status and
lead to some serious and expensive penalƟes. These penalƟes, if not corrected,
become cost and lifestyle prohibiƟve. The ability to drive, legally, can equate to
freedom to get to and from work, transport family to school and day care, and simply
take care of life.
According to DMV.ORG, the MN Department of Safety can suspend, revoke or cancel
your driving status for a variety of violaƟons, including the following.
Suspended (DAS) DL penalty is a temporary loss of driving privileges for:
Failure to maintain car insurance;
Misuse of License/ViolaƟon permit, license, or endorsement restricƟon
Habitual Traffic Law Violator;
ViolaƟon resulƟng in Fatality or Personal Injury;
Criminal Vehicular Homicide/Injury/Manslaughter or Fleeing from a Police Officer;
Failure to Pay Child Support
A Revoked (DAR) DL penalty means your license has been rescinded for a longer
period of Ɵme due to the severity of the violaƟon, such as:
On‐going failure to provide proof of or maintain insurance;
Commiƫng Misdemeanor of Gross Misdemeanor offenses;
Perjury or False Statements;
Leaving the Scene of injury for personal injury or death;
Felony Offense using a Motor Vehicle;
Fleeing A Peace Officer;
Vehicle Homicide or Manslaughter.
Cancelled (DAC) License means you don’t have the right to possess a license and
therefore cannot drive a vehicle because you:
Were never eligible for a license;
Provided false informaƟon or commiƩed applicaƟon fraud;
Are disabled or failed to failed to provide documentaƟon about your disability.
If you have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and commit any of the above types of
violaƟons, your sancƟons will be higher and it will probably impact your employment.
The cost of reinstaƟng your status is quite steep—upwards of $600 for some offenses.
There are opƟons for help and resources available. Outside of paying for your fines,
hiring an aƩorney and navigaƟng the judicial system, DMV.ORG also lists
Diversion SoluƟons.net, a resource that will help get you back on the path to being a
responsible, safe driver.

FOUND PROPERTY — 2XXX Hwy 13 FRIDAY, 3/24/2017, 1146 HOURS
Officer responded to location on a found property report. Employee stated a guest was acting odd
and was in a hurry to leave, leaving behind piles of clothes and a wallet. The items were brought
back to the PD. In looking into it further, the items belonged to a woman whose vehicle had items
stolen when her car was broken into in St. Paul. The items were returned to the owner.
FOUND PROPERTY — 1XXX Hwy 13 SATURDAY, 3/25/2017, 1414 HOURS
Officer responded to location on an after the fact burglary report. While out of town, the victim’s
two bicycles were taken from an unsecured bike rack in an underground garage. Case pending.
FORGERY-COUNTERFEITING — 7XX Hwy 110 SUNDAY, 3/26/2017, 0929 HOURS
Officer responded to location on an after the fact counterfeit transaction. A female came into the
store to purchase cigarettes and other items. When asked to provide her DL to go along with the
check, the employee questioned the picture on the ID. The woman left angry and sent her
husband in to purchase items. He handed the cashier two $50’s and two $10’s, received his change
and then left. It was later discovered that the bills were counterfeit and did not have the security
strip. Employee was able to gather a suspect and vehicle description. Case under investigation.
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — Hwy 55/Waters Dr SUNDAY, 3/26/2017, 1627 HOURS
Officer ran a license plate query and the owner back as suspended. A traffic stop was performed
and officer could immediately smell marijuana. The male was identified and was found not to be
the owner. The driver handed over a glass pipe and a small baggie of marijuana. A citation for
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was issued to the driver.
DOMESTIC — 5XX Annapolis St TUESDAY, 3/28/2017, 2354 HOURS
Officers responded to location on a report of a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties
involved. The couple stated they were going through a rough patch. Officers advised the parties
to separate for the evening.
SUSPICIOUS BISCUIT — 1XXX Knollwood Ln WEDNESDAY, 3/29/2017, 1145 HRS
Officer responded to location to meet with the reporting party who found pieces of a biscuit or
other bread on his deck and was concerned it may have been intended to harm his pet. The bread
appeared to be very dry and hard but natural in color. The dog appeared to be acting normal and
did not appear sick. The homeowner will be sending in the biscuit for evaluation.
DOMESTIC/MENTAL HEALTH — 1XXX 2nd St WEDNESDAY, 3/29/2017, 2330 HRS
Officers responded to location on a domestic dispute. Officers spoke to involved parties and
learned that an argument ensued between mother and daughter. It was determined that the
mother needed to be transported to the hospital on a health and welfare hold.
