SUBJECT: Workshop Meeting
COMMENT:
Parks and Recreation Commissioner Candidates: Beginning at 5:15 PM on Tuesday, January
17th, the Council will meet in a work session to consider five candidates who have applied for the
two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
Three of the candidates will interview in person; because of travel conflicts, two are not able to
be there, nor will they be able to do a telephone interview. We have sent them written questions
to which to respond, and should have responses at the meeting.
Public Works Presentation: The interviews will be completed by 6:00 PM, meaning that there
will be approximately 45 minutes, during which time the Council can hear a presentation by the
Public Works Director about his department, and upcoming topics of which the City Council
should be aware.
We can also discuss follow-up information on City Council meeting start times.
NOTE: Because of the early start, we will provide for pizza to be delivered for the workshop
participants at about 6 PM.

As a follow-up to the discussion at the January 5 workshop, we compiled a list of starting times
for City Council meetings in other Dakota County cities:
6:30 PM—Burnsville, Eagan. West St. Paul
7:00 PM—Apple Valley, Lakeville, Farmington, Inver Grove Heights, Hastings
7:15 PM—South St. Paul
