The Ice Rinks and Warming Houses are Open
The City has three outdoor hockey and pleasure rinks that are open weather permitting. A rink attendant will
be on duty during the regular warming house hours. The rinks are closed when the air temperature is below
zero. Call the Ice Rink/Warming House Hotline at 651.255.1174 for more information.

Parks and Rec Commission Openings—Applications Due December 30
The City is accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The terms
will start in February 2017. One opening is for a three year term; the other is for a two year term. The Com-
mission advises the City Council on matters pertaining to parks and recreation programs. Meetings are held
on the second Tuesday of every month beginning at 6:30 pm.

651.452.1850. Interested persons should submit a letter of interest and a current resume to City Hall no later
than Friday, December 30, 2016.

The Mendota Heights City Hall is a "Recycle Your Holidays" collection
site through February 3, 2017. Bring any unwanted strings of holiday
lights or electrical or phone cords for free recycling. Contact City Hall

Nominations Open
1st Annual Garold `Jerry' Murphy Community Service Award
The City of Mendota Heights is proud to announce the 1st Annual
Garold M. "Jerry" Murphy Community Service Award. Jerry started his
volunteer service to the community in 1967 when he assisted at a
neighbor's house fire. From that day on, Jerry made himself available
to the police department on a moment's notice. He generously gave
his time to community, church and family, and always did so with a
smile, a kind word and a story.
Please take the time to think about those people in your life who
selflessly volunteer their time to make our community a better place.
Consider nominating someone who volunteers, has a can -do spirit, is a
good role model, exudes compassion, has a positive attitude, is well
respected.
Nomination forms are on the City's website or at City Hall and are
due by January 31, 2017. The recipient will be recognized at the April
18, 2017 City Council meeting.

Did you know that the City of Mendota Heights requires all structures to display their
building or house numbers? Each house or building must display numbers at a minimum of
4" in height at or near the entrance of the structure. The numbers also must be clearly read
and seen from the street. The city code recognizes that this is not always realistic. If the
numbers cannot be easily seen and read from the street, numbers must be placed in a
location that they can easily be seen and read from the road.
Why is this important? If we can't find you, we can't help you. When you call 911 for Police,
Fire or Ambulance services during an emergency, seconds count. Trying to find addresses
when buildings don't have numbers or the numbers are in a unique spot is difficult or 1
impossible.

Although City Code requirements are a minimum, help us help you. 6" inch numbers in a I
color contrasting your home is best. Located near the front entrance of your home. If you
have a long driveway or a house that is not easily seen from the roadway numbers both at
the roadway and on the house are the best solution. If you can't easily see them during the
daytime, we are not going to be able to see them at night during inclement weather.
Another thing to remember is to keep the numbers clear of snow and shrubbery throughout 1
the year. If they are hidden behind a snow drift or a bush they are not doing their job.

Officers assisted an outside agency that was pursuing a theft suspect through our city. Stop sticks were 1
deployed but vehicle continued outside of the city where it eventually crashed and suspects were arrested.
THEFT — 12XX Mendota Heights Road
FRI, 12/16, 0737 HOURS
Officers responded to a local gas station on a report where a suspect entered the store, made two cash
transactions, walked over to the rewards kiosk then reached around and stole several packs of cigarettes.
Suspect then left the store and fled in a vehicle. A suspect description was given but no leads at this time.

IDENTITY THEFT — 17XX James Road FRI, 12/16, 0738 HOURS
Officer dispatched to contact a victim of identity theft. Victim's personal info was used to open a Walmart 1
credit card. The account has been cancelled and no loss was incurred.
THEFT — 13XX Sibley Memorial
FRI, 12/16, 1004 HOURS
Officer responded to a local business on a vehicle theft report. Officer met with business owner who stated
that the business plow truck was not in the parking lot where it was left the previous night. The vehicle was
entered as stolen. No suspects at this time.

Officer was notified by homeowner that when he went out to move his vehicles from driveway to remove
snow, he had two flat tires. The tires appeared to have been slashed. No suspects.

Reporting party found a set of keys while sledding.

Officers responded to a crisis call where an individual was feeling paranoid and requested to voluntarily go to
the hospital.
FRAUD — 7XX Keokuk Lane
MON, 12/19, 1338 HOURS
Resident reported unauthorized transactions on her credit card. The stores in which the transactions were
made, were notified and video surveillance was requested. Case pending.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY — 5XX Simard St
MON, 12/19, 1345 HOURS
Officer responded to address to investigate a damage to property report involving a mailbox. It appeared as
though the mailbox had been hit by a plow. Moderate damage to mailbox, still operational.
THEFT — 24XX Enterprise Dr
MON, 12/19, 1427 HOURS
Officer responded to local business on a theft of gasoline report. It appeared company vehicle gas lines had
been cut to steal fuel. Security footage showed images of a white male carrying gas cans and five gallon buckets
to and from his vehicle and the company vehicle. Case pending.
THEFT — 7XX Evergreen Knoll
TUE, 12/20, 1413 HOURS
Officers responded to a theft report where an unknown suspect stole a package that had been delivered that
morning. The package contained approximately $65 worth of makeup.
IDENTITY THEFT — 10XX Sibley Memorial TUE, 12/20, 1517 HOURS
Officer took a report of identity theft. Victim stated he received an email from Experian alerting him of two
fraudulent attempts of getting credit with his personal information. The suspect attempted to purchase two
1 vehicles. The suspect was not granted the monies and there is no suspect information.
