Get out the crayons and help us decorate our lobby! MHPD is hosting our annual Winter Wonderland
Coloring Contest for children ages 0 - 10 who live in or go to school in our city! We are offering three
different coloring pages, based on your child's age, which are:
O to 3
4 to 6
7 to 10
To enter, print out the appropriate coloring page from the selections attached for your child's age.
The forms are included in this newsletter and can also be found on the Mendota Heights Police De-
partment Facebook page and on the police page of our city website. Show us your best coloring on
the page, complete the entry form at the bottom and return the page to MHPD no later than Friday,
January 27th at 4:30 p.m.
Winners will be chosen and notified on Monday, January 30th. The winning artwork will be posted in
1 the 2/03/17 JTF as well as on the city website and MHPD Facebook page. The winners will receive
Juice & Donuts with an Officer for up to 7 guests! Plus, every entry we receive will be displayed in our
police lobby.

Officer observed a vehicle almost hit a median. Officer initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle
continued at a very low rate of speed until finally stopped on the Mendota Bridge. Vehicle had
extensive damage to the front passenger side. State Patrol was made aware prior to the stop. State
Patrol took over the suspected DUI investigation.

FRAUD — 6XX Wentworth Ave

Officer spoke with the victim of credit card fraud who lives on the 600 block of Wentworth Ave.
Victim reported several fraudulent transactions on her credit card. The credit card company
reversed all charges and is investigating. All three credit bureaus contacted and complainant's
credit card cancelled. Report made and case number provided to victim for credit card company.
TRAFFIC STOP/WARRANT — Lexington Ave
Officers observed a vehicle circling through a neighborhood near Lexington Ave and Mendota
Heights road. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver on a theft warrant. Driver was
transported to the Dakota County Jail.
TRAFFIC STOP/ DRUGS — 494 and Dodd Road
While conducting a traffic stop, Officers noticed drug paraphernalia visible in plain view. A search
of the vehicle was conducted, revealing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A citation was issued to
the driver.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON — 1XXX Mendota Heights Rd SATURDAY, 12/24, 0614 HOURS
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mendota Heights Road for an after the fact theft report.
The suspect was alleged to have been involved in a previous theft. Further investigation revealed
that nothing was taken and the previous theft suspect was
business to obtain report and send trespass letter.

Officers responded to a reported domestic dispute. Officers made contact with the victim but were 1
unable to make contact with other household members where the incident occurred. Follow up I
with the household members for further information pending. I

SUSPICIOUS PERSON — 7XX Highway 110 SUNDAY, 12/25, 0946 HOURS 1
Officers responded to a business at the Mendota Plaza to investigate a suspicious person. On 1
arrival, contact was made with the suspicious male as well as the reporting party who stated the 1
suspicious male was watching the employees in the store and looking for the cameras. The 1
reporting party believed the male was casing the business to rob it. The reporting party trespassed 1
the male from the business. 1

DUMPING/LITTERING — 6XX Emerson Ave MONDAY, 12/26, 1212 HOURS 1
Officer responded to the 600 block of Emerson Ave concerning a TV that had been dumped on the
side of the roadway. TV/VCR combination was located. The property had been there a significant
amount of time. A routine check of the property indicated a not on file/no record status. Property 1
retrieved, entered and placed into safekeeping. 1

THEFT — 1XXX Walsh Lane TUESDAY, 12/27, 1025 HOURS

Officer responded to the PD lobby regarding a report of theft. The victim placed outgoing mail in I
his residential mailbox. Six weeks later he received notice that he had an outstanding bill. Victim I
checked his checking account and discovered that a check had been passed at a store that he does
not frequent. Victim reported issue with his bank and while doing so discovered a second check
issued that he had not authorized. Account has been changed, victim provided with a case number. I

TAMPER WITH MOTOR VEHICLE — 2X Somerset WEDNESDAY, 12/28, 0142 HOURS I
Officers responded to the location for suspicious persons inside of the reporting person's unlocked I
vehicle. The reporting party yelled at the suspects and they fled. The area was checked, but 1
suspects were not located. No items were reported stolen and no damage to vehicle. i

PD ACCIDENT — Delaware and MH Road

WEDNESDAY, 12/28, 1310 HOURS I
Rollover with minor injuries. at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Mendota Heights Road. 1
Upon arrival, officers found vehicle one, with two occupants, had struck vehicle two, with four
occupants, while in the turn lane to go on MH Road; vehicle one had then flipped. Vehicle two
contained the driver, his wife and two young children. Both the driver and passenger checked out I
by medics and denied transport. Driver one was cited for Careless as it had been traveling at a I
high rate of speed. Driver two and his two young toddlers were also checked out by medics and
cleared. State Accident report filed.

GM DWI/TEST REFUSAL—Lexington and Hwy 110 FRIDAY, 12/30, 0221 HOURS
Officer observed a vehicle make a turn violation, drive down the center of the road and then make 1
an illegal U-turn. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle bearing WI plates and upon making
contact with the driver, obvious sign of impairment were observed. Driver proceeded to agreed to
testing, yet repeatedly did not follow instructions. A PBT provided a result of .201. She was I
arrested for DWI and brought to MHPD for processing where she refused to submit to testing. It
was also found she had a misdemeanor DAR warrant. Driver was booked into jail with GM DWI

have access to mailboxes—if
you see someone rifling
through mailboxes, call 911.
Avoid mailing outgoing items
from your curbside mailbox,
do not us the mailbox flag and
remove items promptly. Check
into a locked mailbox or
moving your mailbox closer to
your house.

and report unauthorized
activity or potentially stolen
data immediately.

link, find a way to give
yourself time to process it and
consider it before responding

Medication Disposal
Take it to THE Box
If you are a Mendota Heights resident and you are
going out of town or on vacation, you can notify
MHPD of your outing and we will be more than happy to
keep a watchful eye on your home while you are away.
The House Check Request online form is available on
our website; you can complete a form found in our
lobby, or simply give us a call and we'll help you out.
MHPD offers monthly Car Seat Safety Checks.

MHPD has a Medication Disposal Box in the lobby of the
PD where Dakota County residents can safely and
anonymously dispose of their prescription drugs and
