2016-06-29 HSHS Baseball State Champions
Proclamation
City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota
WHEREAS, the Henry Sibley High School Warriors overcame a slow start to the 2016 season;
and
WHEREAS, the team members finished strong, winning the Section Tournament, and
subsequently earned a place in the 2016 Minnesota State High School League Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Warriors played outstanding baseball during the tournament, and reached the
championship game on June 20, 2016, when they played conference rival Mahtomedi; and
WHEREAS, the Warriors prevailed in that game, winning by a score of 8-4, thus ending the
season with a record of fifteen wins and fifteen losses, having been victorious in eleven of their
final twelve games; and
WHEREAS, the team therefore became the 2016 Class AAA State Tournament Champions, and
won the State High School Baseball Tournament for the first time since 1994; and
WHEREAS, the State Championship roster was comprised of

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Mendota
Heights, Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, June 29, 2016 to be
“Henry Sibley High School State Baseball Championship Day”
In Mendota Heights, and further recognize and commend these young men for their athletic
skills, determination, and perseverance in achieving this historic feat.
