Fire Department Dance Also at the Tuesday night meeting, City Council gave the Fire Department the green light to plan for a dance in conjunction with this summer’s City Park Celebration. The FD has already made arrangements to have the “Rocking Hollywoods” perform. It looks like the event will be held at Mendota Plaza on the Saturday of the parks celebration. More details will come as FD irons them out. Runway Reconstruction Update This past fall the airport shut down 12R, also known as the Southern Parallel Runway in order to reconstruct a portion of the runway. This resulted in more flights off of 12L (the Northern Parallel Runway) and over the City of Mendota Heights. A segment of 12L was originally planned for reconstruction in late 2008. However, with the Republican National Convention occurring, the Metropolitan Airports Commission has decided to push back the project until late 2009. Our citizens can expect greatly reduced air traffic while that project is underway.
