2006-07-28 Friday News The Friday News July 28, 2006 CITY HALL PARKING LOT Next time you visit City Hall your cars will glide smoothly into their parking stalls, because, this Thursday Bituminous Roadways repaved the upper level parking lot at City Hall. They fixed the soft spots, (removed 332 loads of goop and replaced it with good granular material), repositioned some curbing to make the lot drain better , and paved the base course. They still need to come back in the fall, fix any settlements and pave the surface course. NEXTEL UPGRADE City employees use Nextel phones and Nextel coverage has been very poor at City Hall. Because of this Police Chief Aschenbrener has worked with Nextel to improve their coverage at City Hall at no additional cost to the City. This week Nextel installed two new antennae in the upper and lower levels of City Hall and installed a repeater on the retaining wall around the east side of the building aimed at the TH55 and I494 where their main antenna servicing this area is. (They told Guy that this work cost them $9000.) ANNUAL TENNIS PICNIC This Friday Nancy, Teresa and Kathy all served hot dogs, chips and beverages to the 80 some kids who were in the summer tennis program. It was sweltering hot but the kids had a great time. FILINGS FOR CITY OFFICE The filing period for City offices opens at 8 A.M. on Tuesday, August 29th and runs through COB Tuesday, September 12th.
