2004-10-08 Friday News The Friday News October 8, 2004 TOWN SQUARE ELECTION COVERAGE Terese Cosgrove called this week to tell me that Town Square Television will be having election coverage on Channel 14 on election day, November 2nd. They will be conducting live interviews with candidates, posting results and showing pre-produced shows pertaining to elections. They will also post results on their web site www.TownSquare.TV. The Mendota Heights candidates forum that was filmed this past Monday will be replayed on Channel 18 – check Town Square’s website for dates and times or call 651-450-9891. SOMERSET GOLF COURSE UPGRADES This Tuesday the City Council approved a Wetlands Permit, Conditional Use Permit and Variances to allow for upgrades to Somerset Country Club’s maintenance facility. Along with the Country Club’s construction, the City is currently reconstructing Emerson Avenue and expanding one of the Golf Course’s storm water ponds on the site to accommodate the storm water from the Somerset Neighborhood Street Project – the area will be a “war zone” throughout this fall. (Tom K and Ryan are expanding their golf ball supply while doing the surveying and inspections for the City’s project). FISCHERVILLE CHANGES HANDS Mike and Kathy Doyle, who recently purchased “Fisherville” (see attached history) from Cliff Kirchner, were at this week’s City Council Meeting and received authorization to begin remodeling the site to accommodate their kitchen cabinetry business. FIRE PREVENTION WEEK This week is Fire Prevention Week and to celebrate that fact, the Fire Department is having an open house at the Fire Station this Saturday from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. The Fire Department will be conducting tours of the station, having car fire demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., doing blood pressure checks, teaching safety tips, having Fire Truck rides, playing bingo (with prizes for the winners) and serving refreshments. Please stop by meet your Fire Fighters and join in the fun. GATEWAY BANK This Friday Pat and I toured the new Gateway Bank Building being constructed in Town Center. John Shrier and Bruce Downey were there with their contractor learning how to “operate” their new building. They told us that they will move in beginning next Friday.
