2004-12-23 Friday News The Friday News December 23, 2004 ECOLAB UPDATE Mr. Dave Menke and Tim Murnane of OPUS Corp met with Patrick Hollister, Sue McDermott and myself this week to discuss OPUS’s purchase of the Ecolab site located at TH 13 and Wachtler Avenue. Mr. Menke informed us that OPUS has hired an outside consulting architect to help them plan for redevelopment of the site but as of yet there are no drawings to show us for any discussion. OPUS has in-house architects, however for this project they hired consulting services in order to. They also informed us that they had formed and met with a focus group of potential buyers to determine what type of residential product they should be building. Although nothing has been established they told us that they were considering building a medium density blend of condominiums and town homes for the site. Their next step is to schedule a meeting with their architect and Steve Grittman to determine the process they need to follow to move their projects forward through the City. We are anticipating that this will be a Planned Unit Development and therefore OPUS will be meeting with the Planning Commission and City Council for Concept Review prior to submitting a formal application. OPUS is also interested in hosting a neighborhood meeting prior to submission of their formal application. TOWN CENTER At their Tuesday meeting the City Council approved a temporary sign for Town Center advertising the impending arrival of a Caribou Coffee. Ross Fefercorn informs us that he has a signed agreement with Caribou to occupy the end space of building F adjacent to Market Street and TH 110, and he wants to put the sign up to make everyone aware of their impending arrival in 2005. COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS Appointments to the City’s Advisory Commissions occur every January 31st as Commissioners serve three-year terms with two or three Commissioners on each of the three City Advisory Commissions coming up for reappointment each. HOLIDAY PARTY On Wednesday of this week staff had a holiday luncheon. Thanks go out to Linda and Guy who prepared the event and Judy Wonick and Chief Aschenbrener for helping with clean-up. The food was excellent. Respectfully Submitted, Jim Danielson City Administrator Attachments: Pipeline, Just the Facts.
