2004-03-26 Friday News The Friday News March 26, 2004 ECOLAB REUSE Ecolab is moving to the old Cray Site in Eagan in 2005 and McGough Construction will be the new owner of the site. On Tuesday of this week Pat Hollister, Sue McDermott, Marc Mogan and I met with Mark Brill and Mike Hangge from McGough to discuss the future use of the Ecolab Site. Mike and Mark informed us that as part of McGough’s agreement with Ecolab to remodel the Cray Site in Eagan for Ecolab to relocate into, McGough will purchase and dispose of their existing facility in Mendota Heights. The site is 24 plus acres in size and has three larger buildings on it that have been designed specifically for Ecolab use as a research laboratory. Mark and Mike told us that their number one priority is to find a new user for the site as it is however because of it’s particular design, they are not optimistic on being able to find a new user. If they are unable to find a new user within 6 months, they will begin to plan for a new use –some sort of residential use. We informed them that they would need to amend the City’s Comprehensive Plan from it’s Limited Business designation, Rezone from B-1A, Replat, obtain a Critical Area Permit and a CUP for a PUD. Their first step in this process would to bring forward a Concept Plan. They are interested in completing a project that the City would favor.
