2003-11-28 Friday News The Friday News Pilot Knob – EAW Update The City Council conducted a special meeting on Monday evening to formalize their decision made last week to order the preparation of an EIS for “The Bluffs” project. At that meeting, the Council adopted a Resolution with Findings of Fact to Complete their order of an EIS”. The EAW is a more general type of study, with a number of questions to answer, whereas the EIS is a more specific document that more thoroughly addresses items of concern arising from the EAW. In our case, the items requiring more study are: additional analysis of the historic and cultural impacts, alternative developments, noise issues, wildlife (particularly birds) and finally storm water runoff and management. The first step in the EIS process is for the City Council to have a 45 day public comment period, within which there is a public meeting to gather more comments to develop a scope for preparing th the EIS. A public meeting will be held at the January 6 City Council meeting to receive public th comments, after which the final scope will be developed for adoption at the January 20 meeting. th The Developer is also holding his own public meeting on December 15 in the City Council chambers to work with stakeholders before the City’s meeting. New Auditor The City replaced KPMG this year as the City’s auditor, with HLB Tautges Redpath, LTD. Kristen and I met with Tom Hodenfield and Esther this week to get to know them, and begin the groundwork for the 2003 audit. HLB Tautges Redpath, LTD is a very knowledgeable firm that performs audits for many other cities. They are going to do more “digging” than KPMG. We liked Tom and Esther and are sure that they will do a great job for the City. Short Week With the Thanksgiving holiday yesterday, this was a short week – a number of our staff took the opportunity for a four day weekend, as I think was the case all over, the phones were very quiet on Friday. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.
