WHEREAS, Tom Olund has served the City of Mendota Heights for over forty years in the
Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, Tom Olund also served the City of Mendota Heights for over 26 years as a paid -
on -call firefighter; and
WHEREAS, numerous expansions to the city's infrastructure took place during Tom's time
serving the city, including the development of the Village at Mendota Heights, Mendota Plaza
expansion, Center Pointe Business Park, over half of the Industrial Park, and several new
residential subdivisions; and
WHEREAS, Tom's expert leadership as Public Works Superintendent allowed for the superior
maintenance of 71 miles of City streets, 73 miles of sanitary sewers, 82 miles of water main, 101
storm water management ponds, and 10 City parks; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, staff, and Mendota Heights community wishes to honor Tom's
dedication and service to the City and will miss his positive presence behind the scenes, around
City Hall, and throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, Tom will be enjoying his time at the cabin, spending more time with his .family,
specifically his grandchildren, and will no longer be obligated to plow snow; and
WHEREAS, Tom Olund's last day as a City of Mendota Heights employee will be May 30th,
2014.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED that the City Council of the
City of Mendota Heights declares May 30th, 2014 as
