1994-09-13 Parks and Rec Comm Agenda PacketCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS MEMO September 9, 1994 To: Parks and Recreation Commission From: Kevin Batchelder, Administative Assistant Subject: September Meeting Cancellation DISCUSSION The regularly scheduled meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission in September is cancellled. The Commission will reconvene at its regular time on October 11, 1994. The cancellation is primarily due to the Election Primaries which are being held on September 13, 1994, our regularly scheduled date. The election polls are open until 8 p.m. and we can not, by Minnesota Statute, conduct official city business until after the polls close.. After 8 p.m., City Hall will be a very busy places with elections judges and City staff attempting to verify the results of the voting, so it will be difficult to stage our meeting. There are no matters of urgency which cannot wait until the October meeting. The following is a brief report of various items of interest regarding parks or recreation. 1. A request from the Covent of Visitation for the reservation of Rogers Lake Parks tennis courts will be forwarded to City Council for their consideration. 2. A request for a report on the use of Chemical Fertilizers from Commissioners Norton is being researched by City Staff. 3. Commissioner Linnell has raised some concerns with the landscaping project on -going at Ivy Falls Park following construction of the new pond. Staff is discussing how to repair the wildflower seeding which was mixed with grass seed and ruined. This item will be addressed prior to final payments and the conclusion of this project. 4. Final Plans and Specifications are being prepared by Joni Giese for the development of North Kensington Park. City Council approved her concept plan at their August 16th meeting. 5. The enlargement of the free skating rink at Friendly Hills Park has been finished and the warming house has been relocated.
