Minutes of the Special Meeting
Held Tuesday, August 28, 1979
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the special meeting of the City Council,
City of Mendota Heights, was held at 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the City Hall, 750 South
Plaza Drive, Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
Mayor Lockwood called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. The following
members were present: Mayor Lockwood, Councilmen Hartmann, Losleben and Mertensotto
and Councilwoman Witt.
1980 BUDGET
PROPOSAL

Administrator Johnson gave a brief overview of the proposed
budget, advising the Council that the departmental figures
are the raw requests submitted by the department heads. He
explained the proposed levy resolution and anticipated revenue
portions of the document and expanded on his written explanation
which was part of the document.
The City Clerk briefly reviewed the administration portion of
the proposed budget and explained the memo submitted with the
proposed administrative budget. There was considerable
discussion over the proposed joint purchase of an additional
election ballot tab counter and discussion on the engineering
retainer.
Police Chief Thul reviewed his memo and proposed Police
Department budget as well as the proposed animal control budget.
Fire Chief Siebell and Fire Marshall Lange explained the Fire
Department budget proposal. As part of the discussion, they
requested Council approval of converting Truck No. 2281 into a
quick response vehicle. They advised the Council that General
Safety has submitted a bid of $6,190 to perform the rebuilding
of the vehicle.

Losleben moved that the bid of General Safety for
conversion of fire unit 2281 to a quick response
accepted.
Hartmann seconded the motion.
Administrator Johnson briefly reviewed the proposed Code
Enforcement Officer budget for 1980. As part of the discussion,
the Council expressed a concensus that purchase of an unmarked
squad car for use by the C ode Enforcement Officer would be
appropriate.

Councilman Mertensotto moved that the meeting be adjDurned.
Councilwoman Witt seconded the motion.
