1983-09-13 Council minutesPage No. 1885 September 13, 1983 CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Minutes of the Adjourned Meeting Held Tuesday, September 13, 1983 In accordance with action taken at the adjourned meeting of September 12, 1983, the adjourned meeting was reconvened at 7:30 o'clock P.M. in the Engineering Conference Room, Suite 214, 750 South Plaza Drive, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Mayor Lockwood called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. The following members were present: Mayor Lockwood, Councilmembers Hartmann, Losleben, Merten- sotto and Witt. INTERVIEWS Mayor Lockwood noted that the meeting was being conducted for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the position of City Administrator. Mr. Mark Lenz, 1740 Mississippi Boulevard, Coon Rapids, was present for his interview at 7:30. After his interview, Mayor Lockwood thanked him for being present. Mr. Kevin Frazell, 12270 Eagle Street Northwest, Coon Rapids, was present for his interview at 8:30. Mayor Lockwood thanked him for his presence and responses during his interview. Mr. Paul Webber, 3474 Ebba Street, White Bear Lake, was present at 9:30 for his interview. After his interview was completed, Mayor Lockwood thanked him for his attendance and responses. The Council members agreed that an early discussion and resolution of the scoring would be most appropriate. The members thereupon proceeded to complete the scoring on all six applicants. The scoring was based on responses to the various questions posed by the Council members. Additional scoring addressed characteristics such as poise, responsiveness and confidence. After a brief period of time the Council members submitted their scoring totals to Administrator Johnson for final tabulation. Results of the final scoring are as follows: James Main - 380 Gary West - 304 Mark Bernhardson - 383 Mark Lenz 354 Kevin Frazell - 438 Paul Webber - 302 It was noted that Kevin Frazell was the first choice for all Council members and that Mark Bernhardson was the second choice for three Council members. After a discussion involving individual opinions, it was agreed that Administrator Johnson should pursue investigative and background information on Kevin Frazell. Such Page No. 1886 September 13, 1983 further processing should also include an introduction to the various Mendota Heights department heads. As a result, Administrator Johnson will verify certain application statements and make arrangements to have Kevin Frazell meet and get acquaint- ed with department heads. Results of such investigative work and introductions are to be submitted to Council members at the earliest convenient time. ADJOURN There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned. TIME OF ADJOURNMENT: 11:15 o'clock P.M.
