1957-07-15 Minutes of Mendota Heights Village CouncilRegular meeting The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Village Council was held at the Viii gt7 Hall July 15,1857, at 8:00 p.m., The roll being called, all memebers were present. On motion of Trustee Horning,seconded by Trustee Sweney, it was resolved that the (--Ilinutes of the previous meeting be approved. Ayes :-5; Nays:-0. ) Mr. Mallery and Mr. Johnson, Assessor and Assisstant Assessor of Dakota County, were present, and had the County tax assessment books with them, as requested by the Council at the Board of Review Meeting. All complaints of Village residents were handled by Mr* Mallery and the 'Council. The hearing in regard to,installing water hydrants along Delaware Avenue was post- poned until August 19,1957. A petition from residents on Sunset Lanegrequesting that weeds be out on the corner of Sunset Lane and Dodd Road, was received by the Couneil, The Road Over sem-was instructed'Ahave the weeds cut, A petition from the Civic Assooiation in regard to the extension ofL4-47.4g;-Lane to Marie Avenue was referred to the planning Commission* A petition from residents on Ellen Streetobjecting to the condition of Ellen Street, was received by the Council* Mayor. Edman was authorized to prepare a letter to John Kane, A petition in regard to blaoktopping roads in the COley Valley View Addition was rece- ived by the Council and placed on file. A petition from Country Club in regard to rezoning property to Shopping Center was received by the Council and referred to the Planning Commission* On motion of Trustee Sweney, seconded by Clerk Stary, it was resolved that this Village Council hereby requests the Commissioner of Highways, State of Minnesota, to conduct an engineering and.traffic survey in that part of the Village known as Friendly Hills, with the recommendation that the maximum speed limit in this heavily populated area to be reduced from thirty(30) to twenty (20) miles per hour, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT the Commisioner of Highways be requested to make a similar survey on that part of State Trunk Highway 49 lying within the Village of Mendota Heights, or between Delaware Avenue on the North-East, and Blue Gentian Road on the South-West, to determine whether or not the speed limits posted thereon should be reduced in any section of this Highway. Ayess-5; Nays;-0. On motion of Trustee Horning, seconded by Trustee Krammer, it was resolved that a building permit be issued to Mrs. jeppe Pederson.Ayes:-5; Nays:-0. On motion of Trustee Horning,seconded by Trustee 'Crammer, it was resolved that a building permit be issued to Claude C. Anderson,909 Delaware Avenue. Ayes:-5; Nays;-0, The application of Bob LeMay Werect a pony shed on his property was returned to him. He was requested to obtain signatures of adjoining property owners within 600 feet The Planning Commission informed the Council that,they have reviewed the Sign Ord- inance and that they heartily endorse it 7--\ A building permit was granted to Mr. Paymar in the Tilsen Highland Heights Addition, On motion of Trustee Horning, seconded by Trustee Sweney„ it was resolved that the Well Ordinancepas is now before the Council, be adopted. Ayes:5; Nays:-0. On motion of Trustee Krammer0seconded by Trustee Sweney, it was resolved that the River Road be Olosed until furthur hotike. Ayes1-5; Nays:-0, ADDITION: The former Town Board of Mendota Township promised that Ellen Street would be constructed as a first class Street and moult always be maintained as such. The Village of Mendbta Heights recognizes this obligation on testimony of of Town Board members Louis Wachtler and Frank Stary.
