1956-07-16 Minutes of Mendota Heights Village CouncilREGULAR MEETING The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Village Council reld at the Hall July 16,1956, at 8 :00 p.m,. The roll being called, the followib;; Council membe_•s were present: Trustees Sweney and Horning; Clerk Stary. Mayor Edman presided over the meeting. Absent: Trustee Kramer. On motion of trustee Sweney, seconded by Trustee Horning, resolved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Ayes :•.4; Nays: -0, On motion of Clerk Stary, seconded by trustee Horning, resolved that that the petiti to curb the West side of Delaware Avenue from Dodd Road to Emerson Avenue be approved. _Ayes : -4; Nays :m0. On motion of Trustee Horning, seconded by Mayor Edman, resolved that 35% of,the property owners on the West side of Delaware Avenue from Dodd Road to Emerson Avenue signe the original petition in regard to curbing the West side of Delaware Avenue from Dodd Road to Emerson Avenue. Ayes:44; Nays :•0. A decision on the extension of Hunter Lane to T.H. 100 was carried over until the August 20, 1956 meeting. A proposed land sub - division of property in the Gardenville Aearrangement,submitted by the Waisted.. Johnson Construction Company, was received by the Council and referred to the Planning Commission for study and recommendation. On motion of Mayor Edman, seconded by Trustee Sweney, resolved that the petition of A.R. Kolar to rezone certain property along T.H. 100 from Farm residential to Business and Commercial be denied. Ayes : -4; Nays: -0. The date for the public hearing for the vacation of the plat known as"Eureka Outlots was set for August 20,1956, at 8 :00 p.m,. On motion of Trustee Sweney, seconded by Clerk Stary, resolved that 0ddinance #9 granting permiltsion to northern States Power Company to construct a gas distribution syste and to use the streets, alleys, and public grounds of Mendota Heights Village for the purpose of of installing the necessary gas pipes and mains in said Village, be adopted. Ayes : -4; Nays : -0, Friendly Hills Inc. agreed to develop lots 4,5,10, and 11 in block 18 as a playgrouni area. Letters from the St Paul Home Builder's Association end E.C. Batherand associates were received by the Council and placed on file. On motion of 14kyor Edman, seconded by Trustee Horning, resolved that the Bills .before the Council be approved and paid. Ayes: -4; Mays: -0. It was unanmously resolved b,, the Council that the gas permit fee be changed as follows: Present fee 0.0.00 per 4600000 B.T.U. input be changed to 00.00 for the first 400,000 B.T.U. input and 0.,00 for each additional 400,000 B.T.U. input or any part thereof. Ayes :.4; Nays:.0, The following letter was sent to jim Geraghty: Dear Jim; It is with considerable rog that we accept your resignation from the Mendota Heights Planning Commission. We under 7tand that you feel your law practice requires you to be out of town to such an extent tha you can't devote enough time to give the same conscientious effort to planning matters as you have in the past. We are sure you know that the Village Council deeply appreciates the work that the Planning Commission is doing and the very fine contributions which have resulted to the benefit of our community. We know that as a member of the Planning lommiss;ion you have given much of your time and conscientious effort to help in the drafti of our very fine Ordinanees which pertain to planning matters. We are all justly proud )f them because of their eom- rehensive and yet simple nature, The entire L'ounoil wishes to thank you fot the fine help you have given us and the service you have rendered your ;ommunity.
