A RI:SOI LYFION COMMITTING $50,000 FOR ACQUISITION OF A PERMANENT
NA`ITIRAI. AREA CONSERVATION EASEMENT OVER THE 156 -ACRE DODGE
NATI!R1: C'I'N'1'l_`R PROPERTY IN MENDOTA HEIGHTS, AND A SUGGESTION
THAT DODGF NA 'I'IJRE CENTER MEET WITH THE CITY TO DISCUSS THE
C'ONCEP'T' OF OPEN SPACE AND APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE
WHEREAS. the 156 acre Dodge Nature Center property located east of Delaware
Avenue and south of Highway 110 is threatened with development, and
WHEREAS. Dakota County has committed up to $500,000 to acquire a conservation
easement over the property, and
W H R EAS, Dakota County has requested that Mendota Heights participate in the
acquiescent of a conservation easement over the property, and
WI II REAS. the Mendota Heights City Council has determined that it would be a great
benelit to the.City to retain this land as permanent open space.
N(E)W. '1'HF:.RE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Mendota Heights City Council
does agree to commit $50,000 of undesignated reserve City funds to acquire a permanent
conservation easement over the 156 acre Dodge Nature Center located in Mendota
I leights.
BF IT FURTHER RESOLVED that commitment of these funds is contingent upon a
Iinal agreement between Dakota County and the Dodge Nature Center committing
County funds.
