Res 2007- 76 Establishing 20 MpH School Zone on MH RdCity of Mendota Heights Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 07-76 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A 20 MPH SCHOOL SPEED ZONE ON MENDOTA HEIGHTS ROAD WHEREAS, St. Thomas Academy and Visitation School requested a school speed zone on Mendota Heights Road; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes , Sectionl 69.14, Subd. 5a, provides the means for a city to establish a school speed limit within a school zone of a public or nonpublic school upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation; and WHEREAS, on March 20, 2007, the City Council authorized WS13 & Associates to prepare such an investigation for Mendota Heights Road between Dodd Road (TH 149) and I-35E; and WHEREAS, in based on the engineering and traffic investigation, WS13 & Associates recommends that a school speed zone of 20 mph be established on Mendota Heights Road between Lake Drive and I-35E. NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota that Mendota Heights Road between Lake Drive and 1-3 5E is designated a school speed zone as defined in Minnesota Statutes 169.14, Subd. 5c. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the speed limit within the school speed zone is hereby set at 20 mph. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this 21" day of August, 2007.
