1987-09-02 Council minutes( • Page No. 2173 September 2, 1987 CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Minutes of the Adjourned Meeting Held Wednesday, September 2, 1987 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the adjourned meeting of the City Council, City of Mendota Heights was held at 7:30 o'clock P.M. at City Hall, 750 South Plaza Drive, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Mayor Mertensotto called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. for the purpose of reviewing and discussing the proposed 1988 budget. The following members were present: Mayor Mertensotto, Councilmembers Blesener, Cummins, Hartmann and Witt. BUDGET City Administrator Frazell and Treasurer DISCUSSION Shaugnessy gave the Council an overview on General Fund revenues and expenditures and the impact the proposed budget would have on the tax levy. Public Works Director Danielson, Police Chief Delmont, Fire Chief Maczko and Assistant Chief Lerbs, Public Works Superintendent Olund and City Clerk Swanson reviewed their proposed departmental budgets and answered Council questions. As the result of the review and discussion, the Council by consensus directed that the following changes be made: Road & Bridge Department: Reduce the add-level tree planting program line item from $15,000 to $10,000. Parks Department: Eliminate the Recreation Director position. Staff was directed to notify the Park Commission that the position is eliminated, that Council will consider other alternatives and asks for input from the Commission. Business Development Fund: Increase fund expenditures to provide for a $500 contribution to the Northern Dakota County Chamber of Commerce for preparation of the community services directory. Water Revenue Fund: Reduce the Water Tank Debt Service Fund transfer to from $74,000 to $60,000 and increase the water tank painting reserve to $19,000. Capital Operating Budget: Remove the fire department emergency generator.
