RESOLUTION 06- 114
A RESOLUTION FORMALIZING MENDOTA HEIGHTS'
FINANCIAL AND OWNERSHIP COMITTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
ACQUISITION OF THE ACACIA CEMETERY PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed to work with Ms. Gail Lewellan
ofthe Pilot Knob Preservation Association and The Trust For Public Land to protect
and enhance the City -owned Pilot Knob land by acquiring the adjacent 15 +acre
Acacia Cemetery Property; and
WHEREAS, grant applications are now being submitted to obtain funding
for this acquisition; and
WHEREAS, a Pre - application has been submitted to Dakota County for
Farmland and Natural Areas Program (FNAP)for partial funding of the 15 -acre
Acacia Cemetary property; and
WHEREAS, the City has been informed by Dakota County that if Mendota
I Heights would formalize an agreement to own and partially fund the acquisition, it

would greatly strengthen the -FNAP- and other funding applications;_ and
WHEREAS, the final 2006 FNAP application is due December 30,2006
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HERESY RESOLVED that Mendota Heights
formally does commit to participate in the acquisition of the 15 -acre Acacia
Cemetery property at a acquisition funding level not to exceed Four Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($400,000); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if the acquisition of all or a portion of
the Acacia Cemetary land is successful, that that the city will own and manage the
property in a way that is compatible and enhances the recently acquired Pilot Knob
property
