Res 2008-67 Authorize RFP for Ped Imp @ 110/DoodCity of Mendota Heights Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 08- 67 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR COMPLETION OF A FEASIBILITY REPORT ON PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS AT HIGHWAY 110 & DODD ROAD WHEREAS, the safety of pedestrians at the intersection of State Highway 110 and Dodd Road (State Highway 149) is of major concern to the City of Mendota Heights; and WHEREAS, ongoing and proposed developments located at the intersection are likely to greatly increase pedestrian traffic at the intersection; and WHEREAS, City and County trail system utilizes this area as a major confluence of area trails; and WHEREAS, the City Council has directed that a Feasibility Study be completed for improvements to pedestrian connectivity at the intersection to include analysis of a pedestrian bridge, pedestrian trail tunnel, and intersection improvements; and WHEREAS, funding assistance may be available through Dakota County, Metropolitan Council, and/or State Aid from the Minnesota Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, the completion of a Feasibility Report on improving the pedestrian connectivity at the intersection is likely to assist the City in obtaining funding assistance for the design and construction of the project: NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota as follows: 1. That City Staff is authorized to develop a Request for Proposals (RFP) to be sent to a minimum of three (3) consultants with experience in developing municipal Feasibility Reports. 2. That proposals submitted form selected consultants will be due to City Staff not later than close of business on October 24th, 2008. 3. That a selection committee consisting of two (2) members of the City Council and one (1) member of City Staff will be established to select the preferred consultant. 4. That the maximum amount authorized for City expenditure relating to completion of the Feasibility Report is $30,000.00.
