Dakota County: Good for Business
Dakota County Community Development
Agency hosted a county-wide meeting on
economic development Wednesday morning.
Sandra Krebsbach, Ultan Duggan, Sandie
Thone and Jake Sedlacek were in
attendance.
The purpose of the meeting was to share
success stories from local businesses, and to
introduce Greater MSP, a new non -profit
organization taking the lead in a regional
approach to economic development.
Speakers from Goodrich Aerospace,
Thomson Rueters and CF Industries
described their companies and why they
chose to keep their headquarters in Dakota
County.
Michael Langley, of Greater MSP described
how his organization will be working to
increase awareness of the Minneapolis/St.
Paul metropolitan area as a good place for
growing businesses. Mr. Langley also
described the role of local governments in
making the area a healthy business
environment.
Old Sibley Memorial Highway
City staff was contacted this week by MnDOT
officials that there would be proposals coming
out this winter depicting alternatives to vacate
Right-of-Way for Old Sibley Memorial Highway
from Mendota Heights Road to Highway 13.
Options for the roadway include, but are not
limited to, turn-back to Dakota County, turn-
back to Mendota Heights, transfer to Park
Service or State DNR, or roadway removal.
Sketch plans of possible alternatives are
expected in the December 2011 – January
2012 timeframe. The process will be well
publicized, and will include opportunity for
public input. Stay tuned for more information.

Honoring September 11th
as the world remembers September 11th, it is
easy to take for granted the great public safety
services we have in Minnesota. We are
fortunate to live in a state where our public
safety staff are highly trained and well
equipped to keep us safe. Please keep in
mind the dedicated police and fire personnel
who help to keep Mendota Heights safe.
