America Recycles Day
This past Tuesday was America Recycles
day. We are fortunate in Dakota County to
have great resources for recycling. Most
haulers for residential and commercial
properties collect single sort recyclable
materials which make it much easier to
recycle. We also have The Recycling Zone
which accepts a variety of materials,
including household hazardous wastes.
Every item we recycle means less going to
the landfill, which is good for the
environment. The evolution of recycling
has created a whole new economy around
the collection and redistribution of materials
which can be used for a variety of
purposes.
You can find out more about easy ways to
recycle at www.rethinkrecycling.org.
Commission Appointments
There are a handful of openings for citizens
interested in volunteering for the city in an
advisory role. There are three openings for
the Parks and Recreation Commission and
one opening on the Airport Relations
Commission. Additionally, we are seeking a
primary and an alternate representative for
the Gun Club Lake Watershed Management
Organization and an alternate
representative for the Lower Mississippi
River Watershed Management
Organization.
If you know of someone who may be a good
candidate, they can download an application
form on the city website, or contact Jake
Sedlacek at City Hall.
