Veteran’s Day — Thank You!
Pilot Knob Grant
The City of Mendota Heights is pleased to have
been selected for a $75,000 grant from the
Partners in Preservation program for Historic
Pilot Knob. The grant is supported by the
National Trust for Historic Places and
Ameriprise Financial.
The city applied for funding to remove utility
lines and to target areas for restoration of Oak
Savannah habitat on the site. Historic Pilot
Knob, also called Oheyawahi, is a place which
is significant to American Settlers and the
Dakota People alike.
Pilot Knob is a unique and beautiful place,
removing the utility poles will have a significant
and positive impact on the experience of visiting
the site. Staff hopes to start this project early in
the spring of 2012.

Aircraft Noise
The Metropolitan Airport Commission
Noise Office has informed us about a
noisy project occurring in the skies
above us. The Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources (DNR) is
undergoing an aerial mapping project
inside the I -494—I-694 loop which
requires low-level aircraft flights in night-
time hours. Do not be alarmed if you
see low-flying aircraft flying a grid
pattern overhead. Weather permitting
the DNR hopes to have this work done
in the next couple of weeks.
