State Budget Deal
Now that the state budget deal has been
reached city staff is digging into the details to
see how it impacts Mendota Heights. One
issue that will have an impact in 2012 is the
Market Value Homestead Credit program.
While we have not received this state aid in a
few years and it will “go away” in 2012. The
replacement for this program will have a big
impact on all property owners. The MVHC
and its 2012 replacement is a tax relief
provided to certain properties in each city.
Next year the replacement program will
reduce the taxable value of residential
properties valued under $413,000. This will in
essence shift some of the taxable value to
residential properties over $413,000 and all
commercial, industrial and apartment
properties. This will have a statewide impact,
not just in Mendota Heights. City staff
continues to look into this issue.
Night to Unite
The second annual Night to Unite will be held
in various locations throughout Mendota
Heights, Mendota and Lilydale on Tuesday,
August 2, 2011. Night to Unite is designed to
get to know your neighbors, building
neighborhood involvement by bringing
police/fire and communities together and to
bring attention to crime prevention and local
law enforcement efforts. If your neighborhood
is having a celebration please take the time to
get out and participate. Anyone with questions
on activities in our area can contact Officer
Denise Urmann. Thank you for your efforts to
help organize this year’s events Denise. More
information on Night to Unite and some
recommended activities can be found on the
Mendota Heights website. Enjoy the night and
meet your neighbors!

Condolences
All of us at the city would like to express our
condolences to both Sandra Krebsbach and
Jake Sedlacek, each of whom lost a parent in
the past week. Sandra’s father Orville passed
away at the age of 83. Orville is survived by
his wife Arlene, two daughters and
grandchildren. Jake’s mother Kay was 64 and
leaves behind her husband Lowell, four children
and grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers
are with both Sandra and Jake in your time of
loss. May the positive memories you have of
your parent help you get through your time of
mourning. Orville and Kay have passed, but
they will be remembered forever. Rest in
peace.
