ORDINANCE NO. 296
AN ORDINANCE EXPANDING COMMERCIAL STREET LIGHTING
TAX DISTRICT IN THE CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS
The City Council of the City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, ordains as follows:
SECTION 1. The City is empowered by Minnesota 1986, Chapter 415, to form a Special Tax
District to provide financing for operation and maintenance of Commercial Street
Lights. On June 16, 1987, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 236, "AN
ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL STREET LIGHTING TAX
DISTRICT IN THE CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS" in accordance with
statutory provisions.
SECTION 2. Upon the petition of property owners outside of the original Special Tax District,
the City Council conducted a public hearing November 16, 1993, as required by
statute, for expansion of the District and approved an expansion of the District
boundaries, as shown on attached Exhibit A and identified by Property
Identification Numbers in Exhibit B.
SECTION 3. That the City is authorized to levy a tax not to exceed .75% of the tax capacity
against all of the taxable property in said expanded District for payment of all
operating and maintenance expenses in subsequent years.
SECTION 4. That the City shall also compute a service charge based on the assessor's
valuation of any property exempt from taxation which shall be billed to owners of
such exempt property as permitted under Minnesota Statute.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect 45 days after its publication
according to law.
