2013-09-11 ARC minutesCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA AIRPORT RELATIONS COMMISSION MINUTES September 11, 2013 The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Airport Relations Commission was held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. The following commissioners were present: David Sloan, Jim Neuharth, Sally Lorberbaum, William Dunn, Gina Norling, Kevin Byrnes and Paul Portz Absent: None Also present: City Administrator Justin Miller Approval of Minutes Lorberbaum made a motion, seconded by Dunn, to approve the August 14th minutes as submitted - all voted in favor. Guest Speaker John Nelson After commissioners introduced themselves, Mr. John Nelson began his presentation. Nelson is the new Manager of Noise, Environment and Planning at the Metropolitan Airports Commission. He went over his background, which included working at various cities and in other capacities at the MAC. Nelson presented information on runway use trends, complaints received and the reports that evaluate them, FlightTracker, and the status of Area Navigation (RNAV) at MSP International Airport. The commission shared with Nelson some of the reports that the commission produces, with special emphasis on the recent trend of excessive noise events (over 80dB) at nearby remote monitoring towers. Nelson appreciated the information and indicated that he would look into the causes. He also said that he appreciates the work of the ARC and is always willing to work together to solve problems. Acknowledge Receipt of Various Reports/Correspondence The monthly reports for July 2013 were acknowledged and commissioners updated their respective areas of focus. Sloan noted that he would like to discuss at the next meeting the possibility of holding a televised meeting of the commission. The discussion next month would be to identify a good topic for the televised meeting, Adjourn Dunn made a motion, seconded by Neuharth, that the meeting be adjourned. All voted in favor. Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
