1998-04-21 Board of ReviewPage No. 1 April 21, 1998 CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Minutes of the Annual Board of Review Meeting Held Tuesday, April 21, 1998 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Annual Board of Review meeting of the City Council, City of Mendota Heights, was held at 7:00 o'clock P.M. at City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Mayor Mertensotto called the meeting to order at 7:00 o'clock P.M. The following members were present: Mayor Mertensotto, Councilmembers Huber, Koch and Smith. Councilmember Krebsbach had notified Council that she would be absent. BOARD OF REVIEW Mayor Mertensotto informed the audience that the meeting concerns the assessed value of properties for taxes which will be due in 1999. He explained that everyone must have submitted a letter regarding their valuation or must sign a register this evening if they wish to reserve their rights to appeal the valuations. Mr. Bill Peterson, Manager of Residential Property with the Dakota County Assessor's Office, stated that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the 1998 estimated market values for 1999 property taxes. He informed the audience that valuation notices have been mailed to all property owners and open book meetings have been held by the Assessor's Office. Mr. Peterson informed the audience that the average residential property increase in Mendota Heights is 1.5 %: vacant land in the city received a 10% increase. He stated that the Assessors Office, as required by law, did on -site appraisals of 25% of the properties in each city each year, and that the CAMA system was again used this year. He informed the audience that after general questions are received, he and other staff members from the Assessor's Office will meet with all of the property owners in attendance to hear specific questions about their property valuations. Mr. Peterson responded to questions and comments from Council and the audience. Mayor Mertensotto informed the audience that Council will continue to Board of Review meeting to May 5 to allow the Assessor's Office to submit a follow -up report to the city before the Review Board is formally closed. There being no further questions or comments, it was the consensus of Council to continue to continue the Board of Review to May 5 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the regularly scheduled Council meeting.
